 Not having a Follow doesn't need to be confusing. It can be as simple as to rename it to "Add to Contacts".  

 I truely get where you are coming from i am saying its one of the few things any new user will know and understand. 

 Vitor, what about 'Connections' for followers and 'Contacts' for following?

 it would be nice to have a way to differentiate between people you're ok receiving DMs from, but dont want in your feed.

Similarly, would be nice to have exceptions for some people with hidden words (id like to see my own posts containing hidden words)
