Thanks for posting about this. Most people don't talk about it, but your experience is typical. I hope it will change, but there's not much incentive to pay a significant amount for what's free. Bitcoiners need to understand that as of right now anyway V4V is not an income stream it is something "fun" and you better find other ways to monetize. I spent the first year I was on V4V podcasting dominating the Fountain.fm charts. A year always in the top ten. Most of the time top three shows. Whopped Adam Curry and Odell many times and was number one or two any given week. Again a year I played that game. I even made my BTC episodes into a "Breakout" and that second use content stayed in the top 50 all year too. That year The Survival Podcast was like number 6 over all the entire year, likely due to some bigger names having a few monster boosts here and there. I had the most individual boosts, most individual streams and most individual supporters of all V4V podcasts for the entire year. Oh that year, I was only in the game for 9 months of it. All in I made about 10 million sats. At the time BTC was in the teens and 20s. But even with today's price, that is about 5 grand. Now look I am grateful for those sats. But 5K a year is not an income that will pay even your basic bills is it? It would not even cover my hosting, which is about 8400 a year. And again this was as one of the top podcasts in the V4V world for about a year. If I were using the income as it came to live on it would have been more like 2 grand to live on for a year. Again hosting for a show the size of mine is over 8 grand a year alone. V4V is great, but it won't pay your bills yet. Save in BTC. but earn in EVERYTHING YOU CAN especially as a content creator or you are going to be POOR. Very very poor. Conversely if you are good at content and at monetizing you can absolutely make a multi six figure income as a creator in today's world and dare I say in almost any niche.

Yeah this makes sense. The ecosystem just doesn't feel broad enough yet, and the core still feels like it's being built. Besides, let's be honest: Even if we are 20 years into the future and V4V is proven, content creators will still likely engage with any number of different monetization strategies simultaneously because, why not?
No SINGLE source of creator revenue will sustain you, not sponsorships, not ad rev, not v4v, not Patreon, not merch. It is about a diversified portfolio of rev streams. You made 400k sats in 3 months! On YouTube, you would need to pull about 100,000-200,000 monetized views (views that had to force your audience through a 5-15sec pre-roll ad) to make the same amount. My bet is you only made a fraction of those views on NOSTR, and all those earnings were voluntary! Stick around 🤙
We are early
It’s all a matter of time preference. You simply can’t expect that sats earned today will fund your work. Save them for the future and do whatever it takes to keep going in the present.
Having no algorithm is maybe fine for some reason, but on the other hand I don't see any of your nostr stuff in my feed. Ideally we should have a way to indicate which nostrish we want to see in priority among those we follow in order to build our own personal custom algorithm
We're still early. So please keep on pushing (how ever you can) because you are designing the future of content creation and laying the path for many to come!
