#bitcoin is not a #shitcoin (#altcoin), but it is most definitely cryptocurrency. while it is important to separate shitcoins from bitcoins. bitcoin is the first established cryptocurrency. please don't confuse people. https://www.britannica.com/question/How-was-cryptocurrency-invented nostr:nevent1qqstnewsvt4mpkyawmrsa2t7pcv9w80s45ugu3tt3v9ew5cwjrazqqspp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqzyzuuathtg9u22j0gkpts7dyt9j4yhmufx0lrxg75tcu8tsqerx3vyqcyqqqqqqg4rw3xr
I like you. "crypto" derived from cryptographic money = Bitcoin.
😉 💯 yup. in 1983, David Chaum (cryptographer) published a conference paper "outlining an early form of anonymous cryptographic electronic money." he developed proto-crypto currency called ecash in 1995. then Nick Szabo came out with Bit Gold (precursor to btc) in 1998 but couldn't figue out the double spend problem. a decade later on Oct, 31, 2008 Satoshi Nakamoto published the #Bitcoin whitepaper and the first established #cryptocurrency, #BTC which would not be possible without #blockchain tech
fact is that ecash was the first cryptocurrency. bitcoin was the second, created as a PRIVATE p2p cryptocurrency solving the double spending problem. today it has become something different due to a cult and a lack of intellectual capabilities of most members of this cult. it has no privacy and it does not scale. that is why other cryptocurrencies like monero, solana or litecoin were created and have a superior value for many people who are open-minded, who can think normally
The term 'crypto' is from 'cryptography' basically. In that sense Bitcoin is cryptocurrency. But the point is clear: Bitcoin is BITCOIN. No common noun is required. Just the proper name is enough and clean, and confusing. Any common name for Bitcoin helps shitcoins. @kineticfinance is correct in this regard.
cryptography / cryptographic and yes Bitcoin is Bitcoin.
Hence why I say "crypto" in quotes and not cryptocurrency! The term has been imbued with different meaning colloquially
i cought the quotes, and i agree "crypto" has taken on a negative colliquial association with altcoins, but when you said "in fact, the terms cryptocurrency and blockchain" (with red lines slashed through them) aren't even in the whitepaper. it heavily insinuates that bitcoin is not a "cryptocurrency." especially for onboarding friends and family who are typically normies. in my experience the term altcoin serves the same purpose of differentiating btc from shitcoins and does not confuse people the way using the short form of cryptocurrency does. anyway i enjoy your vids. thanks for listening to my 2 sats
and after the red slashes through cryptocurrency and blockchain, you go on to say "btc is often labeled as a "cryptocurrency" but it has little to do with the broader "crypto" industry. this sentence alone insinuates that btc it is not a cryptocurrency. make sense? it's confusing for normies.

thank you for your opinion. the fact is, cryptocurrency is not a label, it is the type of currency that bitcoin is. you will not stop this accurate descriptor in the wild. in my experience for successful onboarding it is better to differentiate between cryptocurrencies by, as you said, just saying bitcoin...to which i would add, all the other cryptocurrencies are called altcoins (aka shitcoins) to btc maxies...and here's why etc. imo, if the video said that bitcoin is a cryptocurrency but not like others we btc maxies call altcoins or shitcoins, because bitcoin is bitcoin and there's a reason why it's #1, and here's why, then the point would be clear
i like julian's videos. this is constructive fb. i am not here to argue about it. take it or don't, but the approach of this video sayong btc is "labeled" as a cryptocurrency, but isn't crypto it true only as long as you talk to btc maxies...while the rest of the industry and most all exchanges call btc crypto (as in cryptocurrency), is confusing to normies. period.
Thank you. 🌺

Bitcoin is not crypto. Bitcoin contains crypto elements but its distributed network and community is what makes Bitcoin unique from all other crypto currencies.
bitcoin is a cryprocurrency. read the thread
You are talking about linguistics, your thread means nothing. Below is a google definition of cryptocurrency, which does support your argument. I can agree with this on the exception that shitcoins stop calling themselves cryptocurrencies. If you want to fix the terminology go talk to the shitcoin community. https://image.nostr.build/3a7a4a44dcaf63ba4768f95635fab1777d37bacee30d515c26b18454331af5f7.jpg
your reply means nothing. read the thread. btc a cryptocurrency. crypto is short for cryptocurrency, but it is not an altcoin. bogging down friends and family with btc maxi semantics is not the way. read the thread

Let me put it this way, buzz words kill definitions. Crypto has been over run by shitcoins, this is why Bitcoin is not crypto. Yes it was the original crypto but it has shredded that language because of the filth that has moved in. Don't complain to me, go complain to the bitcoin marketing team. https://image.nostr.build/3a7a4a44dcaf63ba4768f95635fab1777d37bacee30d515c26b18454331af5f7.jpg
hate to be the professor of harsh reality here but bitcoin is crypto. your response makes no sense. yes, bitcoin was crypto and it still is crypto. if that word bothers you, then so be it, it still doesn't change the fact that it is what it is. pv 🤙🏻💜
It was before the definition of “crypto” changed to mean scams. My old keychain from around 2015 is a relic of a bygone era. https://i.nostr.build/Rk6B.jpg
In other words “crypto” was short for cryptography pre-whitepaper, but post-shitcoins it means shitcoins
🎯
Thank you for understanding, glad I am not alone.
🤣 Harsh reality??? You are the one having trouble changing your definition of crypto to shitcoin. I bet you're a grammar-nazi too? (Side note: nazi is another buzz word that has lost most of its meaning.)
i suggested using the term shitcoin instead of crypto to avoid confusing friends and family this holiday season re: the video. read the fucking thread. have a good one, kid
I agree with that, but the shitcoiners don't.
Makes no sense is a perfect way to describe etymology and language. Hope I don't offend and English majors.
All OTHER cryptocurrencies you say ;)
I do agree that bitcoin is the founding cryptocurrency but language changes over time. Buzzwords are killing your precious idea of cryptocurrency, your time would be better spent fighting the shitcoiners and directing investors away from them.
