The term 'crypto' is from 'cryptography' basically. In that sense Bitcoin is cryptocurrency. 

But the point is clear: 
Bitcoin is BITCOIN. 

No common noun is required. Just the proper name is enough and clean, and confusing.

Any common name for Bitcoin helps shitcoins. @kineticfinance is correct in this regard.
