Bitcoin is not crypto. Bitcoin contains crypto elements but its distributed network and community is what makes Bitcoin unique from all other crypto currencies.

Let me put it this way, buzz words kill definitions. Crypto has been over run by shitcoins, this is why Bitcoin is not crypto. Yes it was the original crypto but it has shredded that language because of the filth that has moved in. I do agree that bitcoin is the founding cryptocurrency but language changes over time. Buzzwords are killing your precious idea of cryptocurrency, your time would be better spent fighting the shitcoiners and directing investors away from them.
The term 'crypto' is from 'cryptography' basically. In that sense Bitcoin is cryptocurrency. But the point is clear: Bitcoin is BITCOIN. No common noun is required. Just the proper name is enough and clean, and confusing. Any common name for Bitcoin helps shitcoins. @kineticfinance is correct in this regard.
