Do any clients factor 1984 reports into their web of trust score? I think I may include that in the nostrdb wot implementation. Impersonation/spam reports seem ideal for this. Maybe seems obvious and not sure why I just thought of that.
I don't know it kinda sounds like censorship, which is kinda like twitter and the rest. impersonation is just parody...look at the War of the Worlds broadcast....
Is there a way to limit possible abuse down the road? Such as coordinated automated efforts to limit reach
What do you mean? Abuse of reports from your friends?
I should probably read to see how it works. I assumed anyone can report anyone for impersonation and that would lower their WoT score, leading to possibly getting filtered out. IF that’s how it works, people could coordinate reports to limit someone’s reach by lowering their score. But maybe that’s not how it works …
Are follows and reports from outside your follows included in the wot calc @jb55 ?
Obviously not…
Good use of reports then 👍
Yeah using reports from random people is a recipe for disaster and abuse
I think even trusting from your follow list might even be too much, its not like I trust the judgement from everyone i follow. I would want to create a close friends list for this purpose
I was thinking if there is benefit in a “reports feed”. We also have the set snowden as my moderator user story https://github.com/damus-io/damus/issues/1683
I think a close friends feature feels more natural and could be used for other things like private/giftwrapped stories and notes
Just dropped one of my 'top friends' off at the rehab, didn't feel safe with him in my basement right now.
Man did he ever fix the track on my kitchen drawer before we left though, boy I couldn't have found anyone better for that
Thanks for clarifying for this idiot 🤝
Why idiot?
How do you overcome the leakage of privacy in WOT? People/surveillance/tyrants can snoop on exactly who you are associated with.
If anyone wants to have a look at the 1984 reports … I have built this website: https://reports.slidestr.net/
From NIP-56 "Relay behavior It is not recommended that relays perform automatic moderation using reports, as they can be easily gamed. Admins could use reports from trusted moderators to takedown illegal or explicit content if the relay does not allow such things." - end quote. Highlights the problem: easily gamed. The solution is to only use NIP-56 events from peers that each individual chooses on their own behalf. Maybe the follow list could be used, or optionally a separate list for this purpose only
