 @0548cb44 the smart thing to do is take the time off and find a new job. Once such a large layoff hits, morale tanks, and the remaining staff get burned out by the increased workload. You can't live in that kind of environment, knowing you can't trust any of your managers to tell you the truth, etc. Companies run that way don't deserve to recover. 
 @23f3b5a9 I encouraged her to start looking now. I used to be a recruiter. Always start interviewing when you see the signs that it’s time to go. She’s very smart and capable, so she’ll land on her feet.
