For me, the special ‘sauce’ of #nostr is the excitement or I guess more ‘subdued’, the possibility of what’s going to happen when you post a note. With legacy systems like instagram, you might get a few likes, some ‘way to go’s’ (I never got comments really), but here you can: get paid, start discussion, make friends, spark ideas for new business ventures…anyone else feel that? #asknostr
Yeah I regularly make shitposts about popular people on here and they reboost them 😂
I feel this 🔥🫂💯 it’s way more exciting
That’s true, although I have to admit I’m still not very clear on how to build connections online. It’s like that skill left when social medias came around and now it’s to be relearned.
We never had a great blueprint for this to begin with.
I find there is still a hindrance in terms of discoverability on Nostr, but, there is at least one new method that is unique to Nostr which is read-only mode.
It is interesting to sign in with someone else's npub and browse their feed. I would like to make an application that leverages this.
Never knew about that. Sounds a bit odd but makes sense. How would an app like that look?
I've been considering it for a while. It's a simple mechanic so not exactly deserving of a standalone application. But I do think it can be leveraged so I would likely start with something that shows a way to leverage it.
There is a client somewhere out there that displays multiple feeds in column layouts. I was thinking perhaps I could aggregate the user's follow list and allow people to have a one-click method for loading up feeds from their follow list. Basically shorten the process and remind people it can and should be done. It is an effective method of discovery for sure.
Sounds like a great idea tbh. Keep us posted on the timeline! The way to find the npubs would be through friends friends?
Yes, primarily I want to showcase the discovery of new npubs derived from "feeds of friends".
However there is no end to this method of discovery. You could just as well discover all of Nostr by following the npub rabbit hole.
How would we go about looking for topic oriented threads though? I wouldn’t just want to search through npubs until I see something that interests me
