"I think the simplest way to think about Nostr is this.
"Suppose that you are a writer and I like reading your staff, so I follow you. If you write on Twitter, Twitter can censor you, and I may miss on that post. A solution could be: you write on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube (which now has textual posts too) and whatever other platfrom you want. You publish each of your posts on all of these platforms. And I follow you on all these platforms.
"This would work, and it shows that the web as a whole already is decentralized. The issue with it is that it would take some significant effort from both of us, and I would see the same post from you multiple times.
"Welcome Nostr.
"Nostr relays act the same as traditional centralized platforms, except that they all offer (kind of) the same API. With just one Nostr client, publishing the same post to multiple relays is trivial. And if you follow the same user from multiple relays, you see each post only once. And you only need to use one interface.
"So while each relay essentially behaves as a platform, actually this is mostly transparent to the user and from the user's prospective (which is the most important one) the whole Nostr echosystem is essentially just one decentralized platform."

Thanks for posting it exactly as is, including all of my absolutely moronic spelling mistakes XD
What mistakes? Sorry, I didn't read.
It's not your fault *at all*, they are my mistakes.
I was just poking fun at myself :-)
(I wrote "staff" instead of "stuff").
If only you had a way to "edit" the note.
I wouldn't be able to anyways because it's not posted by me.
But why would I want to? It's funny this way.
Nostr just needs to get much bigger to have an audience.
1. Interface needs to be built smoother and better like X has mastered. But without censorship or oversight, like Nostr has.
2. Needs to not just be about bitcoin. Normies get shit on often around these parts.
I know the old saying “we are so early…”
I agree, but what is your plan to make that happen?
I for one wish Damus scrolled smoother and the threads worked like X. You get a few layers deep in a thread and Damus forces you back to the beginning of the thread instead of allowing you to back up incrementally.
I wished likes and zaps had persistence and stayed showing on Damus.
I have used Nostrudle and some of the others.. Damus seems closest to X. But I like features scattered around the other clients here and there.
Its just spaghetti all over the place. Can clients just get better. They still suck, and having to use several kinda sucks. To get to certain features.
Not sure how to make groups or sandboxes for people who don’t want bitcoin in their face every other post.
(I like bitcoin but I like a social platform to let me go and find and see what I want to see).
Is it possible to have a NIP that allows people to input their Twitter, IG, FB, etc. credentials and have the posts show up on those platforms too.
So you post and interact on nostr, but the content flows through to all those accounts.
People reading your posts get wind of this meta-protocol, start using it, posting to all of them simultaneously too.
Pretty soon everyone is just posting peer to peer, following each other via the meta protocol and as it improves, you don’t need the middleman anymore.
> Is it possible to have a NIP that allows people to input their Twitter, IG, FB, etc. credentials and have the posts show up on those platforms too.
This doesn't really have to be a NIP, it's inconsequential to the protocol.
The only way to make it happen is doing it.
> 2. Needs to not just be about bitcoin. Normies get shit on often around these parts.
BLASPHEMY!!
> Interface needs to be built smoother and better like X has mastered.
I agree with this. However, I think one good thing about Nostr is many interfaces can exist, for people with different tastes.
Not everyone likes new Twitter. Some people like old Reddit and Hacker News. And there will be clients for that.
> Needs to not just be about bitcoin. Normies get shit on often around these parts.
Can't agree more with this.
Moreover, even a Bitcoin user may not want to constantly read about the currency they use.
I'm a euro user and I'd be pretty bored if most discourse were about euros, too.

The simplest way to think about nostr is a giant wall of text.

I nearly missed this post but its a good one for those unfamiliar with #nostr so i will be sharing it
The relationship between reader and writer’s number is like chicken and eggs
Putting aside the fact that we know for certain eggs came before chickens (dinosaurs predate chickens), you are right.
That's the network effect. You don't go to write where there's none to read and you don't go to read where none writes.
I don't really know what strategy we should use to promote Nostr.
