 As a kid, all I wanted to be was a grown-up. Who knew it sucked so fucking much.🙄

I remember being told as a kid, you're a long time grown up, enjoy your youth while you can.
It was good advice.
 @3967703f I like being an adult. I do as I wish, as I am an individual with good morals. I don't get in trouble anymore, as I stay away from humans as much as I can. I was often blamed for things I didn't do. I can do things without permission. However, I see that people, many people, are stuck in infancy who wear suits.

Looking back, I think I imagined adulthood as living in Robin Masters' guesthouse, like Magnum P.I.

Reality does not seem to match that.
 @3967703f I had the exact opposite. My mom was ill, almost from the time that I was born. My sisters & I kind of had to be adults. When I was about 18 I looked in the mirror & said “you didn’t get to have a childhood. I’m giving you permission to have one now.” LoL I still have all the adult bullshit, genuine responsibilities to society etc, to deal with, but I think I’ve managed to live up to my commitment to myself. To allow myself that child like joy.🥰

Same here.
 @3967703f

Bipedal hominids .... are overrated.
 @3967703f I am in my 50s and I have a doctorate, and I still wonder where the adults are. You know, the ones who know what they’re doing? The adultier adults? Then I realize (again) that everyone is just improvising and hoping it works. The adults I looked up to were also hoping the real adults would take over and fix things. Adulthood is just a fantasy we are all telling ourselves, seems like.
 @3967703f Being an adult is overrated. You spend all your childhood waiting for your 18th birthday, and then when it arrives, you're like...is that all there is? Sure, I can eat ice cream for dinner if I want, but adult responsibilities suck. LOL.
