Tor is just crazy slow so I would use anything else. I haven’t used i2p much but if i don’t need exit nodes I would try that
Non technical me never figured out how to use i2p, whereas Tor, despite its flaws, works (most of the time)
the java implementaton of i2p daemon is kiinda messy, and uses a lot of memory, there's also a c++ one (i2pd) which is more optimized, but it's less stable (often crash bugs), and also has had memory leaks in the past to be clear i don't have anything against i2p as a protocol, i think it's useful as an alternative to tor, but it wouldn't be my first choice for anything
fwiw you can use one-hop onions with tor, if speed is more important than privacy i2p is definitely not faster on average, also it's harder to integrate into applications-no arti equivalent, so the only way is interfacing through SAM with a running i2p daemon, which may or may not be readily available for a platform
