This statement is nonsensical. OMEMO for XMPP also uses parts of Signal's protocols, and yet both SimpleX and XMPP allow users to not give their metadata to a single centralized entity that is running a single endpoint with software they are unable to verify. Ingesting literally every user's metadata, while actively preventing them from connecting to users outside of their own service is pretty much the antithesis of bitcoin, nostr, and the rest of that list, message encryption or not.

That's not enough proof for me. A US Media writes a bad article about a russian guy. That happens all day. America wants to destroy other messenger because they want the people to use there messenger. That didn´t mean that i fully trust Durov. On the other hand threema is not open source, so for me also not trustful. We need a fully foss messenger protocol without a company behind it. Only when there is no one they can put in jail they don´t have a chance to beat a messenger down. So i think we need a real good and safe messenger protocol inside of Nostr.

You are not wrong on this, but it is not the right way to use another Platform which is also in the hand of a company and the goverment of the company country. Would i personaly trust swiss more then russia? Of course! But the best solution is to don´t have to trust anyone. That is why Bitcoin is the only useful money and Nostr the only useful "social media" or also messenger. The apps from Threema are open source, which in the end means nothing. I do trust threema more then most of the other messenger, but it is still in the hand of a company which can be controled by the goverment and the server code is not open source, so i would never completly trust them. The company and employees are based in Russia. And those assets can be seized by Russia at any moment. Zuck and any other American CEO is ultimately at the behest of the American Gov and can't deviate from orders either. Telegram by default is not end to end encrypted. Telegram can access and can keep copies of all messages.
Signal was developed at the NSA headquarters and sponsored by tens of millions USD per year until recently. All things considered, it is wise to keep distance. From a western perspective, even telegram has likely more privacy than signal and whatsapp (same algorithm). We're at nostr, promote 0xchat.
The best evidence for Signal vs Telegram is responses to subpeonas from courts, which has repeatedly shown that Signal has very little info be comparison.
It is the other way around. They already get all necessary info from Signal and Whatsapp directly. If it really was private, the mainstream and govs would be chasing and badmouthing signal like they do with telegram.
