Seems Reddit is slowly dying in in a fire 🔥 All the people who want to see moderation tools come to #nostr should spend a few weeks looking into how that has gone for Reddit; it’s difficult to get the incentives right and not just end up with neckbeard fiefdoms which drive users away. https://i.nostr.build/Z54PQ.jpg nostr:note1npj2p9sseuh40z0kr9enmz8amx2dnfjsgf3qvffavw25gu56z2aqpaqs5t
I don't think many actually want moderation tools, a few just think that it's needed for some reason. Can you even imagine the thankless task of building something that no-one will want?
The beauty of #nostr is they can build that stuff and no-one can stop them, but no-one will be forced to use it either. Not sure that’s a thankless task but rather just a misallocation of resources. There is so much new design space and instead of trying to expand into it, there is focus on constraining it. And for what? Better retention of snowflake personalities on an open protocol doesn’t seem like a winning move.
I started learning about #bitcoin there. Even the bitcoin sub is shit, lack of good content and proper news. Most people focusing on fiat gains.
