😂 I had to give up using a VPN on certain sites because of this. I couldn't take identifying a what constituted a motorcycle (does the rider or that tiny sliver of tire count??) for one second longer. How would you fix this? Some sort of refundable transfer of sats to guard against misuse?

My new favorite is that my Gmail verification demands number I lost a year ago, but can still log in from trusted devices. But cannot change the number. It sends me only to FAQ, no other option given.

I added TOTP 2FA and removed phone numbers and devices from Google knowledge. Makes me a lot happier when I have to use a Google identity. My TOTP stuff doesn't need a separate app as my Password Manager hardles TOTP just fine (bitwarden, protonpass, keepassxc).

Similar to how bureaucratic systems naturally tend to grow over time. This growth in complexity and size is attributed to factors like officials' desire to multiply subordinates and not rivals and to make their work appear more complex than it is, hence justifying their roles.

I am crying like a little gurl at the realization that all of the above is true and not about to get any better. We must focus on finding out how our #bitcoin #nostr escape pod will grow to the size of the many that will follow us in desperation after seeing us achieve peace, like no other, as we reduce our interactions with the broken internet.

It is not the internet that is broken. It is much of Big Tech and government. They seem to think they have enough of us sufficiently completely whipped that we will accept anything as normal and reasonable. I have 15 email accounts that I use pretty regularly, and have them in thunderbird. I never have any problem checking my email or sending from any of the accounts. None are gmail. Why did you choose to use gmail for your email addresses?

YES. I hate it so much. I appreciate those saying “Nostr fixes this” but the part it doesn’t really fix (at the moment, anyway) is that emails are like this. I have several email addresses that are not Gmail and most of them I no longer use, but they are used in account recovery. So every once in a while, I have to trek across two or three email accounts hunting for stupid codes.

Deleted my old FB account somewhere during COVID madness when I tired of the rampant propaganda, shouting down and censorship. Decided to sign back up 8 months ago for business reasons only. Though I jumped through their hoops they still suspended the account in 2 weeks saying they thought I was a bot. More back and forth. Compared to what it was at its heydey, even in groups I used to enjoy, it is a sterile annoying ghost town now. The marketplace has some legs. Some business area centric groups and hobby groups get some leads and mileage still I guess. But not much there to put up with the abuse for.
