Story time: 6 years ago my mother in law was left penniless in a surprise divorce at age 67. My father in law (piece of shit) had left her with nothing and planned to dump her on social security. She was working as a pre school teacher making $14 an hour. We had to move fast. Father in law literally shotgun divorced her. Showed up at the doorstep with a notary and manipulated an emotionally fragile woman into a binding legal agreement. I was pissed. I showed up a few hours later with a series of financial plans. And with tears still streaming down her face in the kitchen of her tiny apartment, she picked one. I gave her 3 options. 1. Aggressive 2. Extremely aggressive 3. Dave Ramsey rice and beans She chose number 3. Over the next 4 years she rode her bike to work everyday. Watered down her lemonade. Spent nothing on herself. Walked dogs for extra income. Took weekend shifts at the preschool. Showed up early. Stayed late and against all odds was able to save 12k a year on a salary of only 27k. I set up a couple retirement accounts for her and whenever she would scratch $1,000 together she would give it to me and I would smash buy GBTC or MSTR. My mother in law has never invested a day in her life and I didn’t want the news or some boomer friend to freak her out, so my wife and I just tell her she’s invested in “the market” 😂 When Bitcoin (the market) is doing good, we tell her and when it’s not we just… don’t tell her lol So she’s effectively shielded from the emotional volatility of hodling. Which makes her a very good hodler. Fast forward to today. I helped her retire from the preschool. She is now living with us and helping look after her grandchildren. She went from being near suicidal. My wife and I were legitimately concerned about her mental health. To a happy healthy and vibrant grandmother. And as of yesterday she crossed 500k in retirement accounts. I expect she’ll be a millionaire soon. She can now comfortably retire with dignity. This is not something that would have been possible without Bitcoin. As cool as it is to see people like @saylor make billions of dollars these are the stories I live for. The average person fixing their life with bitcoin. It’s so fucking beautiful man. Life’s good.
This is such a cool story. Helping average people is the reason why we do this 🧡
That's amazing. 🥰
These stories echo across the world, #bitcoin is the tool of liberation
oh!! this makes my day. Thanks for sharing 💜

Thanks for sharing this happy story. 🥹 please give your mother in law a hug for me! #hodl 🚀
Beautiful, thanks for sharing. How does she plan on accessing the gains - sell for fiat? I’m not knocking it, just curious
Since she's been walking dogs so much I am sure MiL has the fitness to take that well deserved victory lap
Be the change you want to see in the world 🫡
Yes!! I like Bitcoin for this very reason. The first system is used to oppress women. Bitcoin helps with that. It's important to remember that and not be distracted by the insecure losers who want to bully women off this platform and away from Bitcoin. Bitcoin is necessary for every marginalized community nostr:nevent1qqs076r7mefcyeet50ffdt8wapghy2zyfnfnx2fz7dpkywft7tcjatqpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsygq6lcx8fc7h0p8t4ya9u0a92jnwavqe9rgjwwdw3wjgxfuxsz8rd5psgqqqqqqsh2lntg
Great stuff!! Amazing story…super fortunate to have you as a son-in-law!
Best son a mother could ask for.
Bitcoin is for the mothers. nostr:note1la58ahjnsfnjhg7jj6kwa6z3wg5ygnxnxv5j9u6rvgujhuh396kqmnktxw
So wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
I think as children this is the best outcome we can hope for. Being able to take care of our parents the way they took care of us. I know you aren't looking for validation but good on ya nostr:nprofile1qqsp4lsvwn3aw7zwh2f6tcl6249xa6cpj2x3yuu6azaysvncdqywxmgprpmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctvq9n8wumn8ghj7enfd36x2u3wdehhxarj9emkjmn99ah8qatzx9e8gmr3vdsnsu3kv96hjcthx4hr26pnds6ngv3jv3kngumj0y6kg7nxv4jngd3exen8zefcwvm8zem4v34hxdmydf6xvuelvfex7ctyvdshxapaw3e82egpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejs5mzk3a.
Holy fuck this story is epic!! Feel bad for the emotional damage that he did to her! But unfortunately that’s life! And the beautiful part is that she found Bitcoin (because of you) I wish her, you and your family all the luck and wealth in the world. And ofcourse the best health. Because that’s the real wealth Humble 🫶🏼
👏
We've heard it before... retire your parents, before you retire yourself! ❤️
Someone has to be that volatility shield for family. I do the same for my mother-in-law albeit on a much lower level and not to drive her retirement. It feels good to be able to protect and support others. Even better when you can show them that hard work hodling pays off.
Well done. ❤️
Now that is real help. Real empathy and genuine caring. I appreciate this story nostr:nprofile1qqsp4lsvwn3aw7zwh2f6tcl6249xa6cpj2x3yuu6azaysvncdqywxmgprpmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctvq9n8wumn8ghj7enfd36x2u3wdehhxarj9emkjmn99ah8qatzx9e8gmr3vdsnsu3kv96hjcthx4hr26pnds6ngv3jv3kngumj0y6kg7nxv4jngd3exen8zefcwvm8zem4v34hxdmydf6xvuelvfex7ctyvdshxapaw3e82egpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejs5mzk3a 🧡
This is the most beautiful story about Bitcoin I've ever heard. If anything should be used to market Bitcoin to a wide audience, this is it! nostr:nevent1qqs076r7mefcyeet50ffdt8wapghy2zyfnfnx2fz7dpkywft7tcjatqpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsygq6lcx8fc7h0p8t4ya9u0a92jnwavqe9rgjwwdw3wjgxfuxsz8rd5psgqqqqqqsh2lntg
👏👏👏 Good on you man. 🍻
great story and great work bravo
Beautiful story. I love hearing these types of stories
The same thing is happening for me and my wife. Thankfully, we are much younger and as a result will be able to retire with dignity at a much younger age. Of course, at our age that really just means we can do the work we want to do without considering money.
Holy shit, you're my doppelganger! Going through that exact process right now. It's the emotional side of things that's truly trying, especially on her. The stress of losing your house, your life of 40 years, and the realization that you've been betrayed and made a fool of. We just moved her into her new apartment but it was quite the downsize. The adjustment period will take time, and worse yet, the divorce won't be finalized until next year. The enemy within really did a number on our family.
My in-laws are in there 60s still working physical labor jobs and living paycheck to paycheck. They plan to rely on social security until it runs out. It’s awful to think many people are in this situation. Your story gives me hope to start setting aside some Bitcoin savings in their name that they would have left in dollars anyways so they can retire some day
I couldn't imagine the end at the beginning of the story. I thought it was going to be one of those 'Who wants to help me beat the shit out of someone?' stories. Seeing your mother in law RESTORED, and gain peace and financial security, especially at that point in her life, after so much turmoil, is so much better. I'm a bit younger, but there is nothing that we need more as we get older than financial peace and access to our grandkids. You providing her both is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
What an inspiring and awesome story 😍🙏👏 nostr:note1la58ahjnsfnjhg7jj6kwa6z3wg5ygnxnxv5j9u6rvgujhuh396kqmnktxw
Thanks for sharing with us this incredible and awesome story! 🙏👏
That is fantastic! Great job!
Beautiful sir! Helping the in-laws is something else!
We will all have stories like this. My 18 yo son is vax damaged and on the autism spectrum. He's a good responsive kid, but has executive function problems. That basically means he has a hard time keeping a sequence of instructions in his head. It may be hard for him to work. We don't know yet. Since 2018 and 2022 respectively I've been smash buying btc and mstr (mstr through a family account where I cannot buy bitcoin directly for him). This will be his money to live on. I hope he can work and take care of himself. I think he can, and if so, he'll at least have the money to buy himself a house one day. nostr:nevent1qqs076r7mefcyeet50ffdt8wapghy2zyfnfnx2fz7dpkywft7tcjatqpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7q3qrtlqca8r6auyaw5n5h3l5422dm4sry5dzfee4696fqe8s6qgudksxpqqqqqqz30nam8
You’re a good guy Hodl. Those are indeed the real sats stories 🤝
Awesome
Beautiful story. Totally agree. These are the stories that matter. 👊💜
Thanks for the inspiration and great story. Psyched for your MIL but just as psyched hearing stories about older generations working together to raise the next generation. Your pro-family advocacy is appreciated and needed in these times. TY https://m.primal.net/MBGh.jpg .
What a legend. We'll done!
What a beautiful story! She really is the "be humble stacke stats" in person!
Awesome, well done nostr:note1la58ahjnsfnjhg7jj6kwa6z3wg5ygnxnxv5j9u6rvgujhuh396kqmnktxw
Great story love it!
Wow Good for her I hope your father in law is now penniless and living on the street That would be karma 😁
Nice job!!
What a story. What a son you are, @HODL I wish you and your family all the best🙏
What a great story, tho it makes me really sad to think of your MIL suffering like that. You've done a wonderful thing for her, and your family, and tho I know you're a humble man, you should feel pride for what you've done in your MIL's time of need. Hats off to you, sir, for putting family first, and being the man who saved the day.
Beautiful
your mother must be proud of you. and you of her! <3
Man's game!
Alright I need the extremely aggressive plan lol
I’ll give you one if you tell me your income expenses etc…
Just to keep it to round numbers- $100k w2, $3500 mortgage, $600 car payment (1% auto loan for 5 years), old 401k with fidelity. How do you play it from here?
Wish I could see her face when you tell her she is a millionaire
Good morning! What a beautiful inspirational story! nostr:nevent1qqs076r7mefcyeet50ffdt8wapghy2zyfnfnx2fz7dpkywft7tcjatqpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezumt0d5hsygq6lcx8fc7h0p8t4ya9u0a92jnwavqe9rgjwwdw3wjgxfuxsz8rd5psgqqqqqqshkvrr9
I recall you sharing this on Clubhouse. So happy to hear how well things are turning out for her and your family!
