 @m0xEE Aka no reason (its also quite dead)
 @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @m0xEE if i may. nostr is propped up by bitcoin enthusiasts since it's rather resistant to censorship due to relay architecture design. many cypherpunks use it for this reason, but also many cypherpunks don't use bitcoin or any cryptocurrency. cryptoanarchism doesn't make cryptocurrency an absolute.

@m0xEE i see no reason why you should avoid making nostr account. stake your name and hold. your handle is unique. i picked mine from from back of poison bottle :mel_laugh:
 @threat[54777] @m0xEE >resistant to censorship
The funny part is its not, you can be banned from any node, and joining new ones is a manual processes.
 newports :dog_are_you_gay:
 getting banned from a server on nostr has no effect

vs banned from your homeserver in fedi land?
 @StephanGuy @threat[54777] @m0xEE Why would it not? people have you join the node you're on, with fedi you can have you're self hosted instance and have it up forever
 no that is not how it works

nostr notes aka posts are signed self provable things, they can come from anywhere, you could stick them on a usb stick and hand them around, make a p2p network for them

as is now we use servers called relays, we usually publish our notes to a few for redundancy but also because we dont all use the same servers, i use 30 which is a bit much, others use 6, relays also exchange notes with each other, i can also save my notes or others notes and i can reupload them to any server

ie notes can come from anywhere

there is a bit to work out on making the whole thing more efficient and finding things better but it generally works well

a self hosted fedi instance may go down and can be blocked, how does it work in china for example? nostr is doing well in china
 @StephanGuy @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @m0xEE thanks for unpacking this, yes the tldr is running your own private relay is efficient and simple. also having multiple relays where you and your connections exchange notes is nice.

i didn't know that nostr integrates with fediverse now. this is going to be an interesting weekend.
 its a bridge relay.mostr.pub by @Alex Gleason he is working on something better called ditto, which more replaces an instance, and allows you to use fedi apps to access nostr
 @StephanGuy @✙ dcc :pedomustdie: :phear_slackware: @m0xEE @Alex Gleason that's really cool. having interop with different protocols seems like a good move forward.
 @threat[54777] @StephanGuy @m0xEE Compared to how revolver is doing it, not very well.
 @threat[54777] @StephanGuy @m0xEE Also yes i talking about what p is making
 @StephanGuy @threat[54777] @m0xEE You already explained the problem, without federation you are 100% fucked because you have to be connected to a relay some one else is on. Its not easy to discover relays like fedi servers either. The superior method is i2p as revoler is.
 we already have methods for discovering relays like gossip https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/65.md

it will get better

relays can connect to relays, there is relays that try to collect every note and act as indexes

nostr.band for example
 @StephanGuy @threat[54777] @m0xEE >will get better
But there is no reason to use it, and no one uses it.

 plenty use it

reason is its better
