For those in the #Bitcoin space that are a known person or maybe even just have your faces online, how do you protect yourself against any physical/digital attacks? How do you feel comfortable sharing/talking about #Bitcoin? @walker @preston @LynAlden @ODELL @Jameson Lopp @jack @miles @Derek Ross @Svetski @TheGuySwann @jb55 @HODL @hodlbod @BTCsessions @Jeff Booth @jack mallers @Vitor Pamplona @miljan @MaxDeMarco
I carry a firearm.

This is the way! 👏🏽🙌🏽
Yea same here. I guess my thought process was people trying to use others to get to me but the solution to that is probably train them to carry and everyone keeping their heads on a swivel.
My family and extended family are already heavily armed, but if your family is not yet armed, get them guns for Christmas. Everyone loves a new boom boom stick under the Christmas tree.
Love it! You don’t have to tell me twice! Will be looking!
As a Bitcoiner I’m much much more worried about cyber attack than I am about physical attacks. Now that things are so easily automated, I’m basically under constant cyber threat that never abates.
That’s a good point. Especially with how increasingly connected everything is becoming. Need to look into how to make myself a bit more cyber proof.
Pew pew & multisig
Yea this seems like it’s the way to go. Any multi-sig recommendations?

28 day login timeout Ain’t nobody touching those coins lol
Damn. But what if I like…forget. 🤣😅
Then you wait haha 28 days is overkill but somewhere between a day and a week can be very effective
Oh I misread it. It was a 28 day timeout. I thought it was 28 days and then you lose it forever if you don’t login.
Asking as I want to talk to more people about it but not sure how to approach it without putting a target on myself and loved ones as people are unpredictable.
I am American, so I have guns. I also have axes, machetes, swords, various bludgeoning weapons, and knives just in case. I also have Walker and Texas Ranger. Walker is my left fist, Texas Ranger is my right.
honestly, in terms of a home invasion, everything and anything is a weapon. try coming up my stairs and ill throw my dresser at you, mother fucker.
Axes are a great home defense complement to guns. Axes can be easily wielded with one hand or thrown if the need arises (but make sure you have backup axes stashed at various places around your house). I recommend at least three axes per floor of your house. Follow me for more axe advice.
I have fixed blade knives all over the house lol my wife is always finding knives. There’s probably 30+ all over the house in addition to the many many firearms lol 😂
I'm remembering me and my brother when we were teenagers... If there were easily access axes at home, one of us wouldn't be here today. Or maybe missing parts... Hope you take it in consideration if/when you have teenagers at home. You can get rid of the axes, or just buy spare toys and chocolate. 😂😂😂
Damn, that’s a good idea and true statement. Need to turn it all into a weapon. @walker As far as axes. Not a bad idea. 🤣
This is very true. Need to look into more outside of guns. Gonna be a great week for my search history. 🤣🫠
Not enough people are talking about the benefits of a solid dual portcullis/hot oil set up in your home. Put a decoy wallet just past the first portcullis then BAM, drop both to trap the invader then pour the oil at your leisure. Pro tip: use seed oils to make the invader extremely unhealthy prior to their demise.
@walker you had me in the first half! 🤣😜
Staking at a 5% yield fixes this
How so?
Its not yours anymore 🤣
🤣 ahh I see.
You lose it all.
Ahh gotcha. 😅
Thanks for addressing this salient issue…for those who are hanging ten on the #bitcoin orange wave, and those of us who care about their well-being.
Yea I want to be more open about it but I’m not sure.
I feel as if you must remain guarded, unless you feel 100% sure your audience has your best interests at heart. Satoshi was brilliant in his anonymity. Can you imagine if he had not, what danger would ever be upon his and his family’s doorstep? I love the courage, legendary leadership, and bold profile of our trailblazers, and yet I harbor concern for them also. But no one set sail for anywhere by standing upon the shoreline.
Yea I was thinking the same. I guess one step at a time! 🙌🏽👏🏽
Of course to each their own, but I’m surprised I don’t see more folks mention dogs. If I was publicly well known I’d have at least one Belgian Malinois that went everywhere with the family and I for sure.
It’s funny you mention that. I was actually looking into them and German shepherds.
Only have access to a small stack on your person or in your home. This has the benefit of protecting others, because if this is the norm, then there is no point in a physical attack. Hide part of your recovery (multisig) in a jewellery box in a safety deposit box, or somewhere secure that someone can't take you to with a gun to your head. The people who are most keen to see the price rise, and are the most vocal advocates, went in at 58k last cycle and need to see it keep going up.
That’s true.
I recommend buying the latest edition of Extreme Privacy. You can also check out some of my writing on the subject: https://blog.lopp.net/modest-privacy-protection-proposal/ https://blog.casa.io/a-home-defense-primer/ https://blog.lopp.net/firearms-for-home-defense/
Thank you for responding! I’ll look into the articles and into the extreme privacy book. 🙌🏽👏🏽
Better be anonymous and step up your privacy opsec game.
Depends on the situation and the attacker. If its a common thief/gang who wants to steal your coins, then privacy and anonymity are the prudent approach that will better protect you and your family. If its the govt, then being public and open is the safer approach, otherwise you are only hiding from the public who would support you. However, in any situation you should be armed, trained, have a security system with cameras, and have dogs, imo.
Good point.
No gun will mitigate a planned attack.
Criminals don't usually plan to attack people who are armed. Thieves are explicitly cowards who want easy money. An armed victim is the opposite of that.
Don’t be a soft target. Own many guns.
Americans love it.
+practice with them and don’t be a pussy
ok, but not because told me so https://image.nostr.build/c498e408d964f9044a1dca1f3d49711cfbd9f7c0cf7714da9d4e9395fa736461.jpg
Sure thing! But better to be your last line of defense. Opsec, indirect security and then direct security.
i was saw an interview on an Argentine thief explaining how he only went for young women, since elderly women were more likely to fight back and have something with them to use as a weapon like a walking stick. they might be bastards but they aint stupid. It a cost / benefit equation for them
So far the TLDR is to have dogs, guns (with a healthy mix of other weapons stashed around), and keeping your head on a swivel as well as employ the F*ck Around and Find Out (FAFO) method as needed! However, I'm interested to hear some of the women's perspectives! @isabella @CARLA @HodlingCarla @Tanja @Marie @melissa @laura @FOX @Noshole @paloma @laurabaroni @mandana @connecteconomy @Susiebdds @satsie @lauren @camilacampton @efenigson @Mir @Pambit @pamelapo @Anna nostr:note1ha0qj6tp06pdwam7glxa4lme4wd7a3wx2985k9gsx37k85vs3ndqjk2lpf
