I wish I was skinny. I fasted 44 days, water only. And I am a woman so much harder. Anyone now why I didn't lose the excess pounds? Asking for a friend. #asknostr #nostr #plebchain
Water fasted for 44 days!? I'm truly impressed. I've only done 3 days. nostr:note1g8ma2eya2suyy294r5zwy75rxta3ytes2j78ey5pwn67q06a4zwqm0a8pv
It might have been too much fasting lol. But I did it.
Because you weren't physically active lol Look at female bodybuilders lol, It's not inherently harder as a woman, typically women weigh less so a given poundage is a greater percentage of their total weight.
That might be true actually 🤔
So many possible reasons, sadly... Fasting puts your metabolism into a minimum-resources mode I believe, which would make it harder not easier to lose weight. Calorie counting looks like such a nuisance, but I'll have to get into it one day as I get older...
I beg to differ. Fasting IS fat burning. Eating a low calorie diet puts your metabolism in low resource mode. Eating nothing, hence fasting, switches your metabolic engine to burning stored fart which releases ketone bodies for fuel. It is actually very healing and therapeutic. I think 44 days was overdoing it. It might have been a case of diminishing returns. But I have always maintained my health and weight through regular fasts. Start small, and build up to 24, 48, 72 hours over time. Your body will thank you.
I've found the carnivore diet to my liking. I lost 7 kgs in two months with no exercise and one of those months was Dec and let's face it, I went off diet plenty for Christmas parties. Hubby lost 5 kgs in 2 weeks doing it properly. If you can water fast for that long, you can definitely survive the discomfort of carnivore and the sometimes getting bored of eating the same foods.
Thanks. I am well versed in the carnivore diet. I used to follow Paul Saladino religiously and I had his book the Carnivore Code first edition. It does work but for some reason I went astray and couldn't get back to a pure carnivore diet. Speaking of women in carnivore diets, are you familiar with Amber O"Hearn, Kelly Hogan and Jordan Peterson's daughter? They all had great success with the carnivore diet. I wish I could figure out why my weight won't just steady out. It is curious 🤔
I'm familiar with JP daughter's story but that it is. It was her story that made me first pay attention, but I've heard many since then. I appreciate the extra mental clarity and energy I have on carnivore. It's definitely helped with health conditions I've had for many years. I don't know much about weight issues, just that I accidentally lost a heaps on carnivore. Have you heard of or tried the 30/30/30 protocol? I've been keeping that in mind since I started working out.
Have you cut out seed oils? Have you had your thyroid checked?
Yes, I have been steering clear of seed oils for years now. I cook with butter only. I even stay away from olive oil because it is not a saturated fat. I checked my thyroid function within the last year. It's healthy. I actually had to convince the doctor to include a T3 panel which is unorthodox. But how else can you get a holistic picture of thyroid function without T3 and reverse T3 status? Go figure I am an engineer by training but she has an MD. She did't even know the difference between Adderall and Modafinil. With doctors like these, who needs an angel of death.
Wait - hang on. You didn't lose ANY of your excess pounds? (or you just didn't lose all of them?) Another vote for carnivore. One of the main reasons I'm trying it is because I love the benefits of fasting, and for many people fasting seems to be quite different on carnivore.
I cannot in all honesty say I didn't lose any. But I didn't lose close to any of the weight I expected to lose. Which is surprising since in the past I did get to my goal weight after a 2 week fast. I guess there are diminishing returns to fasting. I was convinced it would work because I saw a documentary about a fasting clinic in Europe where an overweight woman fasted a month and lost all excess weight. It should've worked 🤷♀️
I imagine it depends on so many different factors. I tried longer fasts (for health rather than weight loss), and I loved how I felt during the fasts themselves but then afterwards my hunger signals were often messed up for over a week. I'll try again once I'm more settled with carnivore. Do you use intermittent fasting? I don't hear the same dramatic health results but I think they probably accumulate, and a lot of people use it for weight loss.
I am on OMAD daily. OMAD stands for One Meal A Day. It also referred to as the Warrior Diet because it is a 23 hour fast, 1 hour to eat your meal. Yes, I am desperately seeking thinness 🙄
OMAD can be great! Once I can eat enough in one sitting I hope to move to that. How is it going so far?
It works ;)
