Holy fuck, feels like there are more #Hamradio ppl here than on twitter 😂
It's the mastodon link in. I'm getting a ton from mastodon and have been trying to get them to switch to nostr
Nice work. I do the same on my personal account. Are you using the Bluesky link in and the Twitter connect also
I just have the mostr relay in my relays. It does the work.
You can connect your Nostr account to a Twitter account to send your notes there using https://connect.nos.social/
And if you use this relay wss://relay.momostr.pink/ and follow the @Bridgy Fed for Bluesky account here it will send all of your notes to Bluesky.
I use all of these for Nostr adoption
Keep up the great work
If you count meshtastic folk I think so.
I'm learning morse incase of gulag scenario does that count?
Wait are we doing nostr over #hamradio now? I haven't even gotten my #bitaxe yet. LOL

#fomo
Funny you say that. I'm working on a nostr over ham radio app.
 That sounds super interesting. Links?
Not yet! Let's call it pre pre pre alpha. Not working right alpha.
😂
I know that stage. Keep us updated. Nostr and Bitcoin not over the Internet should be the goal.
Agreed. The main issue is bandwidth. FM speeds using vhf/uhf for nostr text only would be decent.

I'm working on HF radio nostr. It is slow, and has many limitations.
is it allow to have sigs over the ham?
There are multiple ways to handle this.

None ideal.

My way: have a client and a server. The client connects to the server. The server signs notes, not the client.

You can send some sort of creds, id or other way to authenticate over radio.

I did this to save bandwidth mainly. The sig could be done client side, but then you are adding a ton of data and bytes.

The purpose of the signature isn't to obscure a message, rather prove identity/ownership. I see no reason this isn't legal in almost all if not all jurisdictions. But I'm no attorney.
 sweet 🐡
 Do.
It.
 Ha. I am!

I hope to have a working client/server setup within a few months.

I'm not a dev though. Just self thought and when I have time to work on it.
I love those kinds of projects best.👍
It began last year. But I stopped for 6-8 months.

I'm back at it now.

I want to have the concept done by October ish.

It honestly was a project to browse nostr when camping with my son offgrid or places with no cell.

I use ham already for that.

Then I built a sport scores by request scraper.

The a bitcoin price getter.

Those are done via radio email(winlink).

Now nostr.... this one will use HF packet radio and likely a few other services.

In theory you could do the same over meshtastic easily, but less range for sure.
 Wheres the GitHub link????
Do you know LORA network? It’s decentralized internet with low bandwidth. Sounds good.
never heard of it... I'll add it to the list of rabbit holes. if you take all the media out of Nostr it could totally work over low bandwidth for pure information dissemination.

it sounds like the "internet" on The Expanse
 it’s exploding 💥 📻
 + 1
 just got my license 🤙
Omg maybe we could build a Nostr relay over radio 😮
Understanding radios is kinda like Bitcoin: it can be counter-intuitive and you absolutely have to 'do the work'. But once you understand that the electro-magnetic spectrum is a continuum of faster and slower vibrations that includes visible light and sound, you realize it's beautiful and God-like.
Want to meetup on HF sometime?
You don't really need to understand Radios to use them, unlike bitcoin.
I know nothing. how do I start?
This response is based on US license info:

Ham Radio License Test Preparation:

1. Use HamStudy.org: HamStudy is a free website that provides practice tests for all ham radio licenses. It can help individuals prepare for their exams and find online or in-person test sessions. www.hamstudy.org

2. Check Out W4EEY on YouTube: W4EEY on YouTube offers excellent ham radio tutorials. He has playlists covering all ham radio license levels and occasionally conducts live classes. This resource can be valuable for learning ham radio concepts. Here are the playlists for the various licenses:

• Tech Playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ_9BZQ8gpziUWPBT3rOvSV6MCCeCaiK0

• General Playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ_9BZQ8gpziv2a26B_IoQ1RbXbIqieP2

• Extra Playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ_9BZQ8gpzh7NC1WVKwCCmOTULSj1f93

3. Explore ARRL and Local Clubs: The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) website can help individuals find local ham radio clubs. These clubs often have information about local repeaters, club meetings, and ham radio "nets" (radio meetups). It's a good way to connect with other ham radio enthusiasts in your area. (https://www.arrl.org/find-a-club)

 wait, I need a LICENSE?
anyway I don't want advice from the US government
Okay but have you seen a RF frontend PCB? It's literally magic.
Sound isn't an electro-magnetic wave. Sound propagates through pressure waves, a very different mechanism than electro-magnetic waves.
Sound isn't an electromagnetic vibration, its a mass-force vibration
👌 Could you check if your LN adress works? I couldnt zap your message
Oh yeah, we are here too...73 dit dit
