It didn’t change everything, but I find the relationship between trees and mycelium fascinating. Trees use the mycelium network, also known as the "wood wide web," to communicate and share resources underground. They can exchange nutrients, water, and even chemical signals through this network, which helps them survive and thrive in their environment. 🌳🍄
I'm just going down the mycelium rabbit hole now. I'd never really thought about fungi as distinct from plants, animals & primative organisms. I didn't realise how useful their fruiting bodies were to humans or how easy & cheap it can be to encourage certain species to grow on cellulose (plant waste).
