Damus is just because @jb55 happened to have an iPhone for another company he was working for at the time lol. Not a pre planned thing. Android coming early 2025 💜
Cool, but not my primary point. My issue is with asking devs (like Amethyst) to create for a worse stack and trying to convince people to switch to what is currently Apple only software. It seems more prudent to support the ones building on much more open stacks than to go in reverse, again, if one's goal is to escape those types of systems. I just think it's bizarre to do things that strengthen a system you're trying to escape.
I think people should still have a good nostr experience even if they haven't yet accepted your correct opinion on the state of software sovereignty. This is why I am working so aggressively on making damus cross-platform. I think building *only* on apple is a mistake and will be limiting to nostr clients building there.
I do too, but I don't necessarily agree that telling newcomers (who have already landed on Primal, Amethyst, etc) the best way to experience Nostr is through a closed Apple ecosystem just because they need help with something in Amethyst, Primal, etc. That's what spurred this thought for me. I see it quite a lot and I think it only reinforces the Apple model, which is awful in my opinion. It's great that you're working to get Damus (and Nostr) to more people, I can't wait to try it if it works with GrapheneOS, but I'm not going to steer people away from projects that are already here and better align (today) with what I think is the general Nostr ethos. Obviously, opinions are just opinions, and mine aren't strictly focused on growth over principles that may very well be dogmatic. Thanks for the response.
I happen to think that many of my opinions probably should NOT be strictly accepted by everyone. But I also think a push and pull is important for things like Nostr, Bitcoin, etc. Maybe we land somewhere in the middle and have a great experience for the maximum number of people, including extremists like me.
