For pro sports, I think it depends. The Vegas Golden Knights are loved in the city. They do lots of events for the community. For the Calgary Flames, it isn't so much the team but certain individuals within that organization who do lots for the local community. It might be a scale issue. It's hard to have a lot of local connections if the city is ultra big. It may be easier for a Jr hockey team in smaller towns to have an impact.
When I lost all interest some years ago, I had a feeling I wasn't the only one. Once you see the propaganda baked into pretty much everything they put out, it becomes unwatchable.
Yup. That’s the forced part. Now add in gambling at levels not seen before & I’m done. Hockey is now a gambling sport. Only major degens ever bet hockey in the past.
I wouldn't be surprised if most major sports are totally rigged at this point
I pitched a software company on a different way to conceptualize goalie stats. They thought the idea was great, but they didn't want to invest, because their focus is on sports betting. My system would "only" benefit development & scouting.
If I take the time to watch something, it's probably from 20-40 years ago. I think it's time to watch The Wire again soon. 22 years ago, sheeeit.
40 years ago? I've become a fan of the 1940s, 50s and even 60s movies...some really good stuff back then. (Even the campy 1950s stuff--really fun to watch at Halloween)
I’ve been raising my kids on a diet of old movies. Zulu, Spartacus, Roman Holiday, The Thirty Nine Steps, The Italian Job, North by Northwest, To Catch A Thief, old James Bond… The list goes on. There’s lots of good, original, old material out there that doesn’t come across like the recycled cat urine of modern cinema. How many fucking Marvel movies can be made, FFS?!
