How has the @fedimint integration been for Mutiny users? Any issues, feature requests, etc?
It works great for both new and existing users alike. The idea is that it works in combination with your self custodial lightning channels if you have them.
When adding a federation, receives under 200k go into the federation. Spends come out of the federation first as well.

This really helps make sure that small valued payments do not get stuck and cause channel closures as well. This is huge if you've ever run into that.
At any time you can swap your federation balance to self custodial lightning. This is very useful if you've accumulated enough sats to justify opening a channel. We recommend around the 200k - 500k range.

Not sure where to find a federation invite code or how to add it to Mutiny? We make that really simple now!
Just go to the profile icon in the top right to manage federations.

We find federations that have been listed on nostr. This allows you to discover mints, see which mints your friends have recommended, etc.
And because of the open interoperability, these are also listed on bitcoinmints.com by @makeprisms

We're not stopping there either! Later this month we will have lightning addresses based on fedimint as well.
This will be available to Mutiny+ users first, with random user names available for anyone after sufficient testing.

So what do you think?! Anything else you'd like to see regarding fedimint integrations?
I then wanted to ask you a favour:
In the Manager Federation section if it were possible it would be better to leave the recommended fedimints even if one has chosen which one to use.
Also as an update of new fedimint that in the future might be better than the one chosen
It's possible, but right now we can't add more than one at a time. For now, bitcoinmints.com can also show you this. Perhaps we should link to them on that page.
Yesterday I could only find 2 mints on the app and found no info on them. Had to manually add Bitcoin Atlantis mint and very little info on them too online…I know its early and its for small amounts but zero confidence right now on the mints available. We need reputable mints asap or better ways to find them because I couldn’t.
Definitely understand that. It's still an ongoing spec for mint discovery and more will be improved here. There will also be more mints as time goes on too. Got to start somewhere.
Exactly. Pretty good start by the way! Congratz on the launch!
What attributes make a good federation? What one do you trust personally? How much conspiracy needs to happen to get rugged? I love the convenience of fedimint but I'm paranoid about anything custodied
Understandable, right now reliability and knowledge around who is running it is required. You're asking the right questions, and you should personally use the one you're most comfortable with, if there's one at all.
Though as we point out, it's best for very low valued amounts anyways, so it shouldn't be used for a lot.
For now to me the most reliable is Bitcoin Atlantis (FREE MADEIRA) federation. It looks like that it is the default federation of Fedi Bravo wallet and I added them to Mutiny, too.
I have a channel open with inbound liquidity, so I don't exactly understand why receiving is Fedi By default. It seems that if I ran out of inbound it would switch to fedi until a threshold and then either open a new channel or combine close/reopen a larger channel with the new amount from Fedi
Not a big deal tbh, I'm just curious
It cuts down on potential channel closes and is also the funding mechanism for fedimint in general, since we don't yet have swaps from LN to fedimint.
It's also still complicated to get an exact inbound balance, as that is highly dependent on chain fees and the other LSP node. So this removes a lot of that friction.

When new users enter, they are intimidated by the number of self-regulated wallets. The user can be told to choose between the self-regulating wallet and the fedimint wallet. A new user guide can be made, which is friendly to new users using Mutiny.
We're talking about this now and may come out with it in a release next month. Good suggestion, better user journey signing up is something we want to get better at.
What's the logic behind recommending 200k-500k channels? I've thought 1-2m was probably ideal for individuals for a while, just curious to know what smarter people than me are thinking
It's kind of preferences TBH, but yeah that works as well. We don't want anyone to have too much of a fedimint yet, it's still early days for the project, federations, and our integration itself.
Would it be possible to have multiple federations at once? Would also love to be able to see what federations my contacts are recommending after I'm in one. Currently I believe I have to actually remove myself from the active one to get info on others.
We got that feedback here too, good suggestion.

One more thing I just thought of: a send all/max button. Not sure of the complexity with LN fees being uncertain on send but it would be a great feature for moving funds quickly.
Look forward to the lightning address based on Fediment for the Mutiny+ users first.
I know this is off-topic but can I ask a question about pending Lightning payment from Phoenix to Mutiny which i did more than 24h ago? I wanted to open new 200k sats channel with Lightning transaction (not on-chain) but funds never arrived and on Phoenix its still pending after more than 24 hours. Can I send an invoice to you to examine?
This was second try actually, the first one sending 200k sats from Boltz has already been refunded by them. But you should know there seems to be an issue with opening channels when funding transaction is LN and not on-chain.
Lots of reported issues sending from Phoenix to mutiny. We have some logs to look at but we'll investigate further.
appreciate you and what you’re doing 👍
I followed your instructions on Discord and posted an issue on Github together with other folks. Thanks!
I just tried the app for the first time today. It's amazing and now we can use e cash?
Dude, we can use Mutiny Wallet to make tipping at restaurants great again!
Working smooth over here, looking forward to the lightning address update!
Can't seem to get Mutiny to work on my testing iPhone in Lockdown mode. Even though I added the exception.
This has been reported and we'll take a look. Not sure why this particular release would cause issues, it was working before.
So I am not the only one experiencing this?
It's been awesome so far! Going to open a channel for more security though soon.
I love the integration. I've had no problems sending to my self-custodial LN and back. I can't send or receive from Strike with error of no route found. The QR scanning appears to be broken on my iOS installation. A black screen pops up and it shows a video recording icon at the top but no image is shown.
It's a known issue with strike that they are looking into.
Try restarting your phone.
No luck with restarting iPhone. Hopefully they can resolve it.
Could you open an issue on our GitHub with your device details. The link is in our bio.
