If you plan on building a lightning node on top of the bitcoin node. Don’t go with a raspberry pi at all. Build a mini PC. Get a refurbished one for sub $100.
I’m beginning to understand more as I go I didn’t realize how small the hard drive would be but now I see what you mean with building a mini computer - sorry for the delay. This is getting exciting though as I get closer. When looking into mini pc, would you rec minimum specs apart from 2t ssd (eg ram, ect)
Honestly. If a node can run on Raspberry pi. Any PC would do. The main benefit is you’ll get a waaay better cpu, better SSD (instead of an external SSD limited by the speed of a USB port) and the ability to expand ram if needed. I went with an i5, 2Tb nvme, and 8gb of ram. Anything above that is just more headroom. Though I don’t necessarily think it’s needed.
