I was on twitter and #nostr. I felt hypocrite about myself. Now I just use decentralized protocols, even if I have to spend time learning it. Can’t give up my Freedom.
Why not ? If you don’t use these tools to warn people about their danger they pose to freedom and free speech, how would you actually warn them en masse ?
Meet people IRL. Get involved with your community. Create a reputation that is not bitcoin only but ensure that bitcoin is part of it. Be truthful. When people start looking, they will come to you. You won’t change peoples mind on Twitter and TikTok. They won’t let you. You’re noise there. Go shake peoples hand and look them in the eye.
Why not both? How to meet people irl if you don’t have a common channel to coordinate? If the goal is to meet nostr people irl, then no problem but you’ve already won. If the goal is to bring people over here and have them abandon the panopticons, you need to first meet them where they’re at.
We are not digital beings. The interface we use to access the digital realm do not connect us the way a handshake or eye contact does. Until we reach that technology point. We need to meet people where they are, but that means meeting people. Commenting in threads online is not meeting people. It’s throwing text at then without context or nuance and generally lack emotion without verbosity, which no one has time for online.
I was specifically talking about means to coordinate, not means to engage. I agree with all you said regarding the digital and physical realms. However unless you spend your days preaching to every passerby (and the vast majority of them would think you are some kind of lunatic), it’s very effective to digitally handshake with strangers online, in order to arrange a physical meetup. And you can always continue to do that offline, too, by going to general conferences/meetups…
I see your point. I unfortunately still use FB because all the small business owners around me use it to communicate. But that started because I attend the monthly meetups with them.
Social media has a tendency to suck time that would otherwise be more productive, so I try to strictly limit my engagement. To that end, I use FB for some occasional family stuff, and I check Nostr every few days. I quit my Twitter account a few weeks ago because Nostr satisfies my need to keep tabs on the Bitcoin and Nostr world. I have more than enough with email lists, podcasts, and news sites to keep up with everything else. I'm not missing Twitter at all, now.

How did most people learn about Nostr? From Twitter. I'm sure many people first heard about #Bitcoin on the major corporate social media platforms. If there are no Bitcoin and Nostr evangalists on the big platforms to "meet them where they are" a major avenue to bring on new users has been cut off. People don't go from zero to self sovereign Bitcoin and Nostr user without some intermediate steps.

The less judgement that happens in the world the better. I am a big fat NO on both questions but I do everything I can to restrain from judging others for anything they do. It's probably not their fault and if it is they are in their own state of jeopardy and we can only be an example to them of what is higher level consciousness. If they are not asking for advice, then they are not listening to any answers we have. When they ask, then they are listening.

If the objective is to provoke thought and curiosity about #bitcoin on any platform outside Nostr .. bloody well keep at it happy dances inside a tiny echo chamber can quickly descend into another set of circle jerks
Any platform, that brings people together and connects people in enriching manner who wouldn't meet otherwise is supportable in my opinion, be it foreign, huge corporation, or open source. The more tools and means for connection, the better. Compared to many other platforms, tiktok may have interest to connect people about subjects that are suppressed by the media and of themes such as indigenous rights, or other such groups that face persecution.
Nay, those who cherish liberty should avert their eyes from TikTok, for its practices raise concerns of privacy and possible suppression. Likewise, Twitter demands discernment, for Elon's hands weigh heavily upon the scale.
