While I do agree seed oils are bad, they're not causing obesity. Obesity is caused by overeating, ridiculous portions sizes and sugar drinks In short, too many calories Secondary is this idea that fat and meat is bad, but eating meat is the best way to actually feel full and satiated. Without them you end up stuffing yourself with empty carbs (which is sugar) and never feel satisfied. But I am preaching to the choir here, its actually very rare to find an obese bitcoiner.
Seed oils cause malnorishment and inflamation. Usually coinciding with obesity.
So do carbs, but as a society we eat MUCH more carbs than seed oils
The seed oils are the carbs you are talking about
Seed oils are fat, not carbs
Your missing the point I’m trying to make… The seed oils are everything…
And yes fats make people fat lol
Fats don't make people fat. Excess calories do. I've been mostly carnivore(eat bananas and lol bit of honey) and high fat for 2 years now, and am down to 10% body fat from 20. Moderate eating and working out or at least being active is required in life.
That’s healthy fats… Seed oils are not healthy fats…
You said fats... Seed oils don't affect people in any way. That's a myth. My wife eats shitloads of seed oils. Healthy and thin as can be. She uses vegetable oil for everything. Moderation of anything is key. All diets can work, if done correctly. Whether carnivore, low calorie, vegan(tougher though), keto, low fat, etc... People can eat McDonald's fries evryday for lunch along with a healthy ish dinner, and intermittent fast with it and will be completely healthy and normal.
Not exactly. The average American eats 80 grams of seed oils a day. That’s 720 calories or 1/3-1/4 of their calories. If you then break down the macro proportions with protein, animal fats, and carbs, then it’s by no means MUCH more carbs than seed oils. Not defending carbs.
Then call me super rare again. 🤣😜🫂
This tbh
This is a snapshot of a few of our dinner options for the week. We normally eat REAL food. But aligning what nostr:nprofile1qqsw9n8heusyq0el9f99tveg7r0rhcu9tznatuekxt764m78ymqu36cpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuat50phjummwv5hszymhwden5te0wahhgtn4w3ux7tn0dejj7qg4waehxw309an8yetwwvh82arcduhx7mn99uuwx66a says here, we definitely eat stuff like Chick-fil-A and McDonald's from time to time too. It's not all about extremes like seed oils are going to kill you the moment they touch you. It's about moderation and portion sizes. Our dinner and lunch portions are WAY smaller than the average American. Below the menu is an average portion for us, and yes, it's filling because our stomachs are used to it. Stop eating mega portions and drinking sodas all day. This is the vast majority of obese people's main problem. https://image.nostr.build/cacf26105b15ece5aaba65178e228d2388e1a4fdf0603b816065613cb4aacdc5.jpg https://image.nostr.build/318de28cab49da828065bc56b923766c5d6215083c0f4efcb723ad61b8fbf047.jpg nostr:nevent1qqsrer9lmyawl2a32xrmypyxffu8euca5wdjjcr8lqqpw32gjuee96gpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzvuhsyg8zenmu7gzq8ulj5jj4kv50ph3muwz43f747vmr9ld2alrjdswgavpsgqqqqqqs5ga8kt
Yeah it's low satiety food that causes obesity, and generally metabolic dysfunction. Seed oils, especially soybean oil and corn oil, cause tons of additional complications, including brain fog and, if persisted for many years, reduced brain development and increased risk of dimentia symptoms. They also are highly carcinogenic and cause inflammation.
Obesity is partially caused by blue light and I’m not kidding. https://i.nostr.build/0WhvVHY2xXPj3MP7.jpg
Interesting. I knew about bad sleep affecting insulin release and increasing carb cravings, which then makes for bigger insulin spikes the next day, disrupting sleep the next night and ending in a vicious circle. I can confirm that this is definitely the case for me. If i sleep bad i eat worse the next day and it takes a long of discipline to get out of that cycle once i've been doing that for 2 or 3 days. To break it i either plan my day away from home and have just the meals i know i need to eat with me (usually eggs and some meat) and ensure there's no easy way to get anything else (by hiking the whole day for example) or i muster up all the discipline i can and try to fast 24 hours to break the cycle.
Cane sugar consumption has significantly decreased over the past decades, while unsaturated fat has skyrocketed (around the world) There are many factors at play to explain lack of satiety, huge portions, etc, also linked to lifestyle. In the USA some of these factors are very pronounced. You won't find many countries with such level of obesity even when they eat the same amount of carbs
Big Food is big on carbs because they are massively addictive and cost very little to produce. The more products they can enrich with some kind of carb the better. Profit margins are much higher on cookies than they are on a steak. I think at this point in time you are almost better off doing nearly the complete opposite of what health experts try to tell you. Some companies try to cut sugars in their products but just replace them with other crap like xylitol, sorbitol, sucralose and other sugar alcohols or chemical compounds. Instead of making it better they now made it worse. Sugar is a drug, you are an addict and the only to improve is to take massive cuts in carb intake and avoid replacements. I've been doing keto for more than 12 years now. I still like bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, cookies and chocolate. I allow myself to eat them occasionally but they will never be part of my standard diet ever again. What this has done for me is making me feel satiated, not worrying about eating too much, steady energy levels, much higher quality sleep. I was never very heavy but i did go from nearly 90kg to being somewhere between 72 and 78kg without ever feeling hungry and the need to fight it with discipline. I never convinced anybody else about this lifestyle though. People get flooded by government institutes and health experts still promoting carbs and avoiding (animal) fats. The whole vegetarian narrative is definitely not going to make people healthier or less obese. I am very worried about meat replacements...
not always… more often then not these days obese people have fucked up circadian rhythms, especially the brain-gut axis. artificial light at night (ALAN) combined with no morning sunlight causes a huge leptin resistance. this is soo far upstream from many of the most important metabolic pathways. calories are one small part of the equation here.
Plant oils disrupt the satiety mechanism and insulin, both of which will result in overeating. So yes, they indirectly are causing obesity.
A lot of obesity here in the American Midwest. The amount of massive jugs and bottles of soda consumed is amazing. A lot of places upsell with discounts to larger sizes. Who needs 64oz or even 32oz of soda with a meal? I’m sure there’s all kinds of changes people could make, but cut out just soda (and any high sugar drink) out and I think we’d see a big change. Same with fast food. Thing is it’s cheap, and pretty good. So people at least here will keep eating it. Same with alcohol. I’ve know overweight (not necessarily obese) people stop drinking, and with no other change to diet, no exercise, lose a lot of weight (in these cases they were drinking significantly). I’m not an expert but these seems like some simple changes one could make.
I am also an obese bitcoiner, struggling daily with a sugar addiction. Will I ever not be obese? Time will tell. Will I ever not be addictes to sugar? I doubt it. I will say that oils were not that hard to give up. I assume that I still consume some when dining out, but not enough to matter. I've definitely experienced benefits directly related to not having oils in my diet, including a much higher resistance to sunburn. I was reflecting today on how many ways people poison themselves, gladly, in the name of health. I don't care if someone wants to eat a plant. Sure, they are ingesting whatever plant toxins it has, but hopefully in a very low amount compared to what may cause harm. I think processed "foods" are possibly the worst offenders, along with "supplements". Saw a jar or powder claiming "Fiber - with real sugar!". To me, that reads "cardboard, with real cocaine!". And to be fair, cocaine might be preferable, and do less damage! People consume this shit because the govt and pharma tells them so, and poison themselves as a result. So go ahead, eat some berries. Maybe some lettuce or a cucumber or whatever. I choose not to, but you do you. If you're not a sugar addict, maybe have some honey once in a while. But don't eat shit out of boxes, plastic bottles, etc. Your food should be recognizable as its ingredients. Just my thoughts as an obese bitcoiner.
I would argue it's a lack of exercise, that being said seed oils expedite the fat storage process, and leave you inflamed. Someone who wants to lose fat should absolutely avoid seed oils, or else they will be pushing a boulder uphill.
