when y'all say you meditate do you use any guided videos? any specific breathing techniques? do you focus on anything specific or just focusing on being in the present?
Focusing on breathing itself.. there's is many different techniques, but you could develop your own also with time.
Yesterday was noting with @bohemia about it.. nostr:nevent1qqs97ca6cach0nryyn6jx2fj84s0lsh0j9lt283zyxn3wgw40f4pjygprfmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuargv4ekzmt9vdshgtnfduhsygygv7ldj05fey7smzkf3vjy8324g7v7mwgeqdrfg6cjuql3xejy2qpsgqqqqqqsk645aa
when i do, i like to look at a spot on the sky and just breathe
ooh, that's really cool with a roof window or meditating outside on the terrace, it sounds like a wonderful idea
So glad you asked! No guided videos No guided apps No guided audio Need at minimum 20 minutes of silence & stillness before you begin to see anything (flashes, vivid images, etc.) Eyes closed, looking out & up in the direction of your third eye (like straight ahead, then up without straining your eyes), Sit quietly in a dark room, focus solely on breath. Deep breath (easy breathing, not hard/aggressive) in nose, hold 5-7 sec., out through mouth, 5-7 sec. Control your breath Think of nothing. Let all good & bad thoughts / visuals come. They will go in time. Just Be. Present Read to get started - Be Here Now - Autobiography of a Yogi I too am still learning which mantras to repeat outloud as this reverberates through your body, into your soul. This is next level of meditation and really need yogi to teach you how to pronounce said mantras correctly. Hope this helps 💜
I like all of this except "think of nothing", this is not possible for humans! How about "let thoughts slip away, don't linger". On "no guided audio or apps".... there are different schools of thought. I think starting with an app with an aspiration of being unguided can be good approach. Of course the ancients didn't have apps, so I appreciate where you are coming from, but i would hate for people to start there on their own and then bail....
Meditation is awareness for me. Whatever I am doing, wether sitting, moving, brushing my teeth, etc; I try to give it my full attention. I often forget, or lose the plot, but this is part of meditation.
https://youtu.be/8sYK7lm3UKg?si=YOF71CguikqQVO57 I like to follow along with this. It keeps a cadence to my stillness. It also forces me to breathe slowly and deeply in order to mimic it. As far as thoughts, sometimes its easy to release them as fast as they come;other times hard. Main thing is don’t get impatient with yourself, it’s an exercise that gets easier with time and consistency. There are time Ive gone 10-15 minutes without a thought and just being immersed in the moment meditating outside.
There are many techniques, each suitable to different needs. I practice zazen, which is zen meditation.
It's easy. You sit down, breathe in...and focus on every awkward thing you've ever said in your entire life
A really simple one you can do anywhere, at any time, for any amount of time. You can even practice it while you're out for a walk or sitting on a train. Focus on feeling with every inch of your body. Are you wearing socks? Focus on the fact that you can feel them on your feet, on your toes. Sitting down? Well now you're aware that your butt is touching the chair you're sitting in. Can you feel the hair on your scalp? Well now you can. Is your mind wandering? Think of another extremity and what it's feeling. This method is amazing for shutting your mind up for a moment, or for getting to sleep if you're having issues. I can't remember exactly what this method is called, but it was something to do with being present.
just focus on trying not to pee and you are good
