Ironically, apples are the only thing we don't win any prizes for at the village show. We don't do anything to them, nor do we know what varieties they are. We could send them to East Malling Research centre who provide that service, but we know enough. We have 5 cooker trees and 2 eater trees, so we make very dry cider 😂
What region do you approximately live in and the history of your property if you don’t mind me asking? Have the trees always been there? You might have some seeds worth saving from those apples.
We’re in the UK, Oxfordshire and our property dates back to 1751. We live in an area where everybody has Orchards, in fact we get together in October to make Cider for the village. I am more familiar with Apples than it may seem, my Father was Chairman of East Malling research centre after he retired.
