are those shingles made of stone?
Yes they are. It's very common in the UK, either stone / concrete mix or slate.
diy?
those r from molds
I couldn't know less about roof tiles. I had to ask the builder what they were made of for a previous NOSTR AMA. I'm not disturbing him again to ask more questions 😂
Americans don’t know what slate roofs are
We’re in the UK, Oxfordshire and our property dates back to 1751. We live in an area where everybody has Orchards, in fact we get together in October to make Cider for the village. I am more familiar with Apples than it may seem, my Father was Chairman of East Malling research centre after he retired. East Malling invented root stocks for Apple trees: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malling_series I don’t believe we have anything special, although there was a prized variety found at the side of the road near Deddington in Oxfordshire a few years ago: https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/2044568.fruits-labours/ nostr:note1rtscshhe7cde5j8uh3pndculy7tzlv6uykjheccg5wtgvmmgs9nq98vc0m
