Just had an amazing interaction with a based (and clearly autistic) bag boy at the grocery store. As he's bagging away at record speed he says " CORPORATE REQUIRES ME TO GIVE THIS FLYER TO YOU BUT I WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THEY ARE NOT LEGALLY ABLE TO FORCE ME TO PUT IT INTO YOUR BAG AND YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT IT." Then he holds up this "get your free flu shot!!!" flyer and I'm like "appreciate it man, you clearly read the fine print" and he responds "NO I DID NOT READ THE FINE PRINT BUT I THINK IT IS MORALLY WRONG THAT THEY ASK US TO SNEAK THESE INTO YOUR GROCERY BAGS. WE SHOULD NOT BE DOING THAT." So I'm like "good looking out man, definitely don't need the flyer." And he's like "GOOD. THEY CANNOT MAKE ME PUT IT IN YOUR GROCERY BAG." And I'm like "appreciate you fighting the good fight." And he's like "YES." And by this time he's finished bagging everything because he's fast as fuck, and then out of nowhere he's like "AT LEAST THIS LATEST BATCH OF FLYERS DOES NOT SMELL LIKE DOGSHIT." And the cashier is like "you probably shouldn't say that in a grocery store dude." And he's like "BUT THEY DID SMELL LIKE THAT. I BELIEVE IT WAS THE INK THAT THEY USED." Anyway, just wanted to share this story because it's a great reminder that YOU DO NOT NEED TO COMPLY WITH BULLSHIT, NO MATTER HOW SEEMINGLY SMALL, AND HAVING A TOUCH OF THE 'TISM CAN OFTEN HELP YOU SEE THROUGH THE BULLSHIT.

Also this warms my heart because for a few years I worked with high schoolers on the spectrum and getting them jobs and internships and it was a fucking blast. I heard some wild shit on a daily basis, I miss it!

My interactions at Walmart, grocery stores, etc. have been refreshing of late. I’m in sales, so I can converse with a telephone pole, but I get the sense that being spoken - and listened to - as a person, is not something a lot of ‘frontline’ workers are used to. Tells me all I needto know about their bosses and managers.

this is 💯 accurate. and sad. and it's our kids also....either they are too scared to interact and start conversations in public or they seek insane amounts of attention acting out in public... they spend years and years in closed rooms at desks, not allowed to speak or have opinions or stand up for their own thoughts.....they all are taught they don't matter.... just head down, shut up and do your work

The bagger is completely right. It’s not even a political statement, it’s a principled one. His job is to put YOUR groceries into YOUR bags, not sneak other material into it that you didn’t want. I just read this story out loud to my wife, which she thought was hilariously sweet. “This bagger gets it. Maybe I, too, have a touch of the ‘tism,” I pondered. “You bitcoiners definitely have a touch of SOMETHING,” she replied. 😁

Most bullshit things are shockingly easy to not to comply with. My recent example: if you ask to opt out of facial recognition scanning at US airports literally nothing happens. They just say “okay” and look at you to match you to your ID.

I’m a Boomer we did not have autism back then or in the alternative I did not hear about it until I was in my 40’s. I feel so bad that we have poisoned our kids to the point that everyone now knows someone who has been affected by this condition. All expectant parents need to read Dr. Paul’s book and pregnant mothers need to abstain from all jabs during their pregnancy!

Imagine what the experience would have been like had you had dog shit put in your bags... Jokes aside though, if people don't decide for themselves what's right or wrong, then we're all screwed Plus I really enjoy day-to-day simple stories to reveal a bigger theme; nice point Nothing will beat the covid mask nutjobs... In a way, as an autistic individual myself, I'd say we'd be more apt to smelling out nonsense than neurotypical people if we know what our values are supposed to be. Not many in the spectrum know, though.
