Thinking about it, Boomers are the reason folding phones will (eventually) catch on. Declining eyesight means they'll want a small tablet they can read messages/notificationas on, but it needs to fold in order to fit in their pockets. (It's the one valid use case for folding phones I can see, other than ostentatious display of wealth.)

I'm thinking back to anecdata about older people who don't have a phone but ♥️ their iPad Mini.
@0c1a9324 why not just a tablet-sized phone with a bluetooth (or wired for that matter, we are talking about old people here, who get nostalgic about the telephone cord) headset for making calls?
@0c1a9324 I'm gen X and this is my #1 reason for looking at the Pixel Fold & Samsung offerings
@0c1a9324 I am still looking for a coat with a breast pocket large enough for my iPad mini… I see the appeal of a foldable every day :-)
@0c1a9324 Folding phones will be forced down our throat because the whole reasson for ever smaller, flatter and more complicated phones is that they are more difficult to copy by cheap producers like Xiaomi.
@0c1a9324 Exactly the reason I have a folding phone. Poor eyesight due to cataracts developing after my heart transplant (worst side effect of all the immunosuppressant drugs) plus a preference for something I can carry in a pocket, so I don't need to carry a handbag everywhere. It's notable that many of my conversations with the medical profession (when I show them a spreadsheet of blood pressure or whatever) moves onto 'that phone would be really helpful for so many of my patients.'
@0c1a9324 Time to bring back the Psion 5?
@0c1a9324 if watch could act as a hub and hand off data to iPad mini that would be great.
