Help NOSTR - please recommend the easiest, dedicated, plug and play out of the box #bitcoin node that one could purchase. Many thanks
Appreciate this post! I have been researching running a node using raspberry pi however little intimated by the coding involved so will welcome the responses from the Nostr community
Would recommend something more powerful than an rpi5. An old PC from the last decade would work well, even better if it can take an SSD or NVME drive. Newer hardware will be pricey. https://store.start9.com
Used pc + proxmox + start9 vm has been my goto default for plebs 🫡
MyNode looks cool, but a little spendy. Anyone have experience with Umbrel?
You can easily install umbrel on Linux (Ubuntu and Debian I think). It’s literally one command on the command line that you copy off their website.

Umbrel supposedly had a big upgrade in April, but last I checked in April the Linux version wasn’t available

I’ve been running start9
I’ve never seen someone run both & choose umbrel.
I wouldn’t call either easy, at least on Linux. I couldn’t understand umbrel lightning backup and couldn’t grasp (despite a short tutorial) how to make backup work on start9 (which requires SMB).

Start9 allows(or maybe will allow) you to make your own packages (might require upgrade to as of yet not ready software)
Start9 behind the scenes is properly abstracted to basically run anything in a controlled fashion with whatever parameters and monitoring features one could desire.
 I need to learn proxmox.
I could bring equipment to Nashville to host an impromptu workshop. I have everything but the slides finished (I said I would post them & haven’t, whoops 😅).
cool, been so busy but circling in Dimi
 I won’t be in Nashville
Do you need new hardware? An old computer might work better.
