Obviously chromosomal sex and gender arent the same thing, but RWers dont get nuance, biology, or cultural conceptualizations at all.
Also, crossover events between Y chromosome and X resulting in novel recombinations are a fucking thing, as are Barr Bodies and deactivation of chromosomes. Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) Expertly describes chaos theory and tge unpredictability of emergent complexity in systems. How that interplays with brain development, self identity, processing of cultural norms, is an example of a highly variable outcome.
If its not obvious, Im rewatching Jurassic Park right now, lol.
Samuel L Jackson was older in 1993 as Ray Arnold smoking in Jurassic Park than he was from 1994-current.
Limited chars to 500 but I want to spell out -- hyperreductionistic tendency of a simple (Right Wing) mind to link Gender:Sex:Identity as 1:1:1 pathway is inappropriate established BY science as early as ... insert case of congenital adrenal hyperplasia here. Hell, by Gregor Mendel. It dismisses the unpredictability of a complex system emerging from genes, epigenetics, time sensitive developmental periods, hormone messengers, concentration of hormones, thermal temperature, ETC ETC.
"What will you and Ellie do if you dont have to dig up dinosaurs anymore." Dr. Grant: "I dont know, I guess we'll just have to evolve (aka adapt)." Its almost like for many of us COVID cautious and egalitarian types, life didnt stop with COVID. We adapted. Nice false dichotomy though, Dr. Leana Wen, McKinsey Institute, Koch Network. #JurassicPark #COVID19 #CovidIsNotOver
...and yet fir 22
@46cd5609 Honestly the thing that gets me, is why does it matter so much to them? You don't know my accent until I speak, you might not be right about pronouns until I say, so what? Unless you are aiming to sleep with me, why does this inform your behavior to such a degree as to cause this level of distress?
@46cd5609 It's actually quite something to learn that when folk start looking a chromosomes, there are lots of surprises. I think a problem was in school, when we were taught it was this or that, likely because science was behind the news at the time, and folk hate adapting to new knowledge. Babies aren't all born either/or and some parents are making serious decisions for their child in an attempt to have a "normal" kid. That also doesn't seem widely known.
@46cd5609 life uhh...finds a way. https://www.audubon.org/news/newly-recorded-condor-virgin-birth-another-way-birds-are-reptiles
@fc15df0c Parthenogenesis??
@46cd5609 Wait till somebody tells them some species can actually change sex in an overwhelmingly same sex environment...
@46cd5609 I'm quite fond of this explanation. I think people forget that we are just animals, just primates. https://academic.oup.com/icb/advance-article/doi/10.1093/icb/icad027/7157109?login=false
