Just had a genius idea for a nostr microapp after seeing this meme. Imagine a browser extension that adds a nostr-based comment section to any url. So you navigate to a zillow listing, open up the browser extension, and boom theres a nostr comment section for that listing. This could be a really compelling way to get normies to join nostr. I don’t have time to make this right now so I hope someone sees this and takes it upon themselves. Anyway, heres the meme: https://i.nostrimg.com/08122fa8f2bd67177d4f6f7a2d8c0f7a2bbb0b24f7f2830478923aee6f725dde/file.jpeg
think we had this discussion on frog talk like a week ago, for this exact thing, talking how we could zap youtube videos and have comment sections, even where comments are disabled
 🔥
make a bounty listing for it, i’ll repost it
 How
bountstr was taken down by nvk

http://nostrbounties.com seems to be the only one out there
 YES!!!
There was another service that was the comment section on a lot of websites, but I'm blanking on the name
There are lots of them but they don’t really catch on because they all rely on capturing a large userbase
 💯

Imagine the nostr section on the DMV website 😅
Nostr community notes on CNN articles 😂

 What about Notestr 🤔
No str or nost. Lets make this for the plebs https://image.nostr.build/8ea6b80efadebec5fcad80f15d99fa5ccd6c02f4653aec8e6038d39a16173a19.png
 plebtalk.com
 Or plebspeak
 👍🤝 plebspeak
 plebvoice
 plattter (short for pleb chatter)
plebei is the latin word $2900

plebhey.com available for $10
PlebWeb has a ring to it imo 😉
 😅

Product requirement: must support the memes

🤣
tangentially related - have you seen https://justtherecipe.com ? you give it a query string ?url=<some recipe url> and it scrapes out the fluff and renders the recipe content. you could use the same query param implementation for this
We were discussing this idea in a frog talk the other day! It would also work for Amazon reviews, comments on YouTube videos that have been shut off and many other use cases. Great way to commandeer the internet
I think it get it , but actually don't.

Like...anything on the internet could have a nostr comment section? How would normies know to check?
 would require browser extension
Why not have a nostr web browser at this point?
 Extension built in
I like the way you think
How about a <link-comment> tag before a note, and the Nostr app renders the page above all notes with this tag.

No extension needed.
 This is a great idea
I also thought about almost the same. Just don't have the time to build it 🤷
 LOL OMG please build this.
I thought about this for the Highlighter browser extension.
1. To show in the icon whether nostriches highlighted/commented on that page
2. When the icon is clicked: Open the page in Reader mode that lets you view the comments and highlight text.

This would take it to a next level because the comments would have context.
But on YouTube on the other hand that probably wouldn't make sense tho.
 Sort of like Disqus.
Gab made an extension that did this called Dissenter. Was really fun, got pulled from firefox / chrome: https://hub.packtpub.com/mozilla-and-google-chrome-refuse-to-support-gabs-dissenter-extension-for-violating-acceptable-use-policy/
 Damn.
I’m guessing Nostrichat from @Gzuuus could use some help
Yes, it actually works for that
Last time I tried it out (way back), it was posting to my feed (on Damus) without context. Still not sure if Nostrichat was not providing enough metadata or Damus wasn’t handling those events correctly
In that case damus was not handling tags in the event, idk if they support tags now, but in any case nostri chat needs an update 👌
My wife designed a prototype 20 years ago and I helped code a prototype on pre-firefox Mozilla for a grad school project. There's still a case for it, I don't think it's been executed well yet.
Yeah that would be dope, most sites either use Facebooks comment function or plugins like Disqus, definitely think theres a market for it especially if normies can sign in and get a set of nostr keys attached to their legacy mediums ie gmail and facebook

Then you're cooking
Love this idea. It should allow Nostr comments on any web page. I own the domain name WebNotes.com, which I would gladly donate to this effort.
I have been thinking of building this exact thing as a social media far before nostr, then I found nostr and saw how perfect it would be for this. I kinda started a few months ago but shit came up and it went on the back burner and now people came to the same idea. I'd be willing to collab if anyone is down, if not then I wish y'all luck
