#AskNostr should I have made this a thread 𧡠or is it good how it is ? Long note. nostr:note14xuaxjy44pp0urcswxy7grk37ezd6mclve408y5t69yrj8jmz7dqcc3upv
Last time I did this, I did it as a thread. & it went good, people shared the ones they liked the most. Thought Iβd give this a try now..
Also is this broken on any clients ??
Damus just shows a carousel of photos at the bottom which kinda sucks because you canβt read the captions together with the pics.
Same with primal and Nostur. Would be great to be able to compose a note with an βin lineβ photo, or add a caption to it
hopefully somebody makes a NIP for it cc: @fiatjaf @PABLOF7z @hodlbod @jb55 @miljan @Magister Michael Dilger M.Sc. @Kieran @Vitor Pamplona nostr:note1u6lh266pnjcw40p7klgx0rz3p2s4awnkuv5fl5f9rucj5symq83shzsfcv
Brought it up when running the @NostReport a million times
The note has the long list, and then all the images at the end. So no client is going to show the images under each bit of text unless the note is composed that way. I don't see any reason a note couldn't be composed that way. In fact as an example, here is my first image: https://scitechdaily.com/images/G299-Type-Ia-Supernova.jpg And here is my second image: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d2/Saturn_-_High_Resolution%2C_2004.jpg How do they render for you?
Thatβs what Iβm trying to say.. thereβs no way in any client to currently compose it that way where you can add a description to each individual image and even if 1 client did it it wouldnβt really be interoperable across the ecosystem and for me it rendered the same, text of the note and then two images on the carrousel which doesnβt really fix anything the cool thing would be individual text descriptions of each image
Itβs probably just the client Iβm viewing it on, which is why Iβm saying if thereβs a solution and no NIP then itβs not the same experience for everyone https://i.nostr.build/Yg9Rq.jpg
On gossip the images render in place, like in Pablo's image. For your client they render in a carousel at the bottom. You are right that there is no NIP about how to render the notes. But I think moving an image from the middle to the bottom isn't correct and was probably just an easy way to avoid dealing with image-text interlacing issues while the dev worked on more pressing issues.
That NIP wonβt be worked on anytime soon right.. Iβve never heard any discussions around this
what do you think about ALT image descriptions as well https://i.nostr.build/wGvDv.png
I ain't got no problems with alt image descriptions. Gossip should probably render them if the image hasn't been loaded yet. I'll contact the developer.
gib thanks to dev from me π«
Coracle does allow you to compose notes and choose where the images show up
Iβm gonna start using Coracle for these types of notes then π€ Thank you sir!
This is what longform is for
I can do longform within Damus ?
Would be easier to read if the caption/description for each image immediately preceded or followed the image as opposed to 2 separate lists and images unnumbered
Also a good candidate for a Corny Chat Slideset
You can add individual descriptions to each slide ? hadnβt seen that
Yes. Lot of people dont use the captions out of laziness but if you have them, like in this case, it really helps with context.
Thatβs probably why I had never seen it lol Those lazy fucks
Clients never really had this in mind I guess, idk if theyβll do anything about it anytime soon either.. itβs probably not even in their radars. Which I completely understand, but yeah it probably would have to be a NIP so everyone is on the same page n itβs all interoperable.
@elsat another feature request that prob wonβt happen my fren lol
It's a long note, which are annoying to have to scroll past, but it's not a long form note, which is a different Kind, I believe. Long form notes are those you would create in habla.news or highlighter.com or Yakihonne. It's better to use those for long notes like this, imo. Great note, btw!
I like threads a lot and I think we should encourage more clients to properly rendered them; most clients don't do it well but threads were a good thing in twitter as they allow very precise discussion https://highlighter.com/e/nevent1qqs2c5u8ncftwhderskzjvz4k88pa0ka5qcjp6em8a9xfjal70z4qds60keh2
