is there a gadget out there that prevents cables from bending/tearing you'd recc?

buying better cables... duct tape... insulation tape... not getting sucked into this whole "woo mobile devices" bullshit and getting a desktop computer where only the mouse cable has to be durable oh yes, and buy cables with braided nylon, that's a good start
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=nylon+braided+usb+c+cable&crid=1KBLF8PEPYFM3&sprefix=braided+nylon+usb+cable%2Caps%2C239&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_1_23 i see it's USB-C so this might be relevant
the only thing tougher than braided nylon cables is kevlar cables and then it really depends on whether the wires are made out of super fine braids that can handle kinks or whether the braiding is stiff and backed by a good polyurethane backing that reduces kink angle for sure, the typical shit like in the photo is usually low grade PVC and that shit wears out in a couple months of mobile use
😂 how the hell did that happen, ..
i've seen this shit more times than i can remember, these are shitty thin vinyl garbage cables from chongwor
My usbC ports always die way before the cable does. usbC is garbage
well, it was no different with micro... and it's quite ridiculous that the simple blade contacts of apple and lightning have not become the norm i mean, that's what's inside a standard USB-A anyway! which is only gay because it's one directional (the endless flip flop oh, this way, oh that way, oh, no it was this way)
Ya micro was bad too
Pre-taping? 😅
I did that, doesn't help. Nothing helps. Use cable until it breaks then get a better quality cable 🤷♂️
so summary of tips i got here - use Segru clay - use shrink heating tube w a lighter - buy Nylon cable - buy Nylon cable, w lifelong guarantee
segru clay is some funny polymer shit? does it need to be heated or does it just oxidise to rubbery after you open it?
Sunk cost fallacy. Dump the cable, get a fresh one. You're worth it 🫂 ...but also try this please just to see what happens: https://image.nostr.build/88c3b8f8bef54f4bb0b0cd01170b89d643020e482c136667d42c4b3b177c6c33.jpg
Bending? Or like, you need to keep it perfectly straight? You could reinforce the cable covering with this stuff, its cheap at the hardware store. Need a heat gun to shrink it though. Also can get a cheapo one pretty easily. Anyway, that won't stop it bending but it will make it stronger https://www.homedepot.ca/product/gardner-bender-heat-shrink-tubing-3-16-inch-3-32-inch-black-3-inch-5-clam/1000843469
And I have one of them, but they’re probably more decoration :D could be supportive I have a penguin 🐧 one 😁😁 https://image.nostr.build/9d20a17d45e4809b9d801e1534b9a0348c6cf6cf96ae78989b217888b152f461.jpg
Mine just hangs somewhere at the cable but not where it supposed to be
it is adorable, would be great if worked fr
They really are! 🥰 I bought it in a shop just because it’s cute. I have it hanging on a USB C cable, I will think of this convo and try it on a lightning cable, never tried it but I think that would fit better because it’s thinner. Good luck with finding a solution!
mainly just need nylon braiding IMO
Dont be cheap😆🤭, these cables get used alot and its normal to replace every x amount of uses. Ali has lots of examples of strong marketed cables but where they are strong, they lack or are weak in the connection itself. What I do is buy 5/6 cables from Ali that I need and always have backups.
wad cheap gotta do w it, rude!! 😂😂😂
😆😆😆♥️
Sugru https://images.mobilefun.co.uk/graphics/productgalleries/52959/c.jpg
oooh nmdat looks great
it's probably fancy nylon braiding
it's clay i see
sort of.. turns into some sort of rubber😂
do you think i can just use this on my ripped cable that still works? https://i.nostr.build/wGj4l.jpg i wonder if damage is too much, see the yellow staining (burned?).. idk how cables work 😂😂 or better to just buy new one and reinforce it?
I think it could maybe keep it in the state it currently is. But its possible that the cable already has some kind of damage, there are data lines and power lines, if a data line is broken it can still charge for example. I'd probably buy a new one
