So, there's a pretty interesting concept floating around called free cities, which are being set up as special economic zones that are based around the NAP and general libertarian Austrian principles. Everything is contractual and based on informed consent. This would include security obligations that probably would include walls.
 Where is this occurring?
Somewhere in south America, IIRC. I'll look it up later and send you info.
 Please do.
 https://free-cities.org/

The url has changed since I last looked them up a couple of years ago. Used to be freeprivatecities.com which now re-directs to the above. It's a shame if they dropped the private in the marketing, since that was what appealed to me when I heard about them in the first place.
Doesn't seem like they're making much progress. We'll see what happens.
Not anything substantial, but, things are shifting.
Have you read the book Free Private Cities
by Titus Gebel?
No, I never read it. Is it good?
It's been a while since I read it. But I think it describes the idea of Free Cities quite well. I found it very worth reading.
I'll have to add that to my list. Thank you!
True. The mere concept of this is progress in itself.
It would be interesting to see a free, private city incorporate the nostr protocol for administration purposes.
Theoretically, that could work. Nostr already has clients for retail, news, and obviously other communication-related purposes. 🧐
Yup. It's also based on keys, and keys would be issued at a start of a contract.

 Seasteading?
Without the need to build ships, which is really hard. LOL
That seems impossible, though. An independent city such as that would need supply lines. Of course, this also depends on the location.
Right, cuz the Greek city-states had such short lives.

Sarcasm aside, it's really not hard to set up something like this, it's just not really done legally when da gubment wants a cut and to control everything.
Well, yea, that's why I was saying that the location is crucial. Read about the history of Carthage and compare it to the Greek city-states.
We have better transport tech now. Also, a walked city these days, if it had access to good water, would be pretty easy to sustain itself.
That's true. We could just fly in supplies.
Or just grow its own food and generate its own power. Sure, trade is generally good, but not reliance on said trade.
Lol. I like these discussions. LOL! We can always count on Stella! 🤣
Sounds like the shit I deal with on the regular with muh fiat job. Call me when you got a challenge.
 Fair enough.
So we willingly want to sign up for imprisonment these days? That's where we are going with this?

What side of the wall do you think you're on?

And if you've sheepishly convinced yourself you are sheltering yourself from the evil in the world by entering into some tacit agreement with your commune - let's face it, that's what it is. Will one at least admit they are choosing extreme measures of flight? Would one be comfortable admitting that? That, in spite of what they may measure themselves as against the more meager, they too need a safe space on a long enough graph map.
I disagree, as it's not a commune and you'd obviously be free to come and go as you please.
That's how they always start though... lol literally
Possibly. Since we've yet to see this tried at any scale, we don't know if the contract is capable of staving off the tyrant.
Honestly, I see Daev's point. There's always the risk of internal conflict within these communities, and if these conflicting parties choose not to leave, then chaos erupts. 🤷‍♂️
 Yup. It's a risk.
 That's literally any community.
 Citadel Movement in a nutshell

You'd prefer to be "imprisoned" against your will at the whim of bankers and their NGO puppets? The climate hoax is their means to control your movements with 15 minute cities under the guise of "saving the planet".
Women literally went through a period of their own emptiness and caused the tranny movement, which is now producing school shooting demons. Bravo. They are NOWHERE accepting responsibility for the momentum they causes on the matter.

Short sighted.

Elderly, infirm and children have always been surrounded by predators.

This is a pretty minor application of the concept, but, gosh I hate HOAs. Most of them suck. I can certainly see Daev's point, since, we do have the examples of HOAs going off the rail. So, that's certainly something to watch out for.
Yeah, that's true, but the time and distance that takes gives me time to prepare those things.
I don't feel ridiculous for being paranoid. I've designed a house that is more bulletproof and also less exposing of the occupants to sniper fire, while still being cozy.

I just should have started this a decade ago...
Being prepared for emergencies is not paranoia.
It does put me on another watch list, though.
 Same.
True, but, that's not ideal for long term defense.
 Yes!
 . . . . .and?

It's still not fixing a problem that will eventually come through your facade barriers.

You're literally proposing what you disrespect about refugees, aren't you? Fleeing for shelter, instead of fixing the issue forcing you to flee for shelter.
