Anybody explored anonymous zaps? One thing which has come up in user research is there are a set of users who want to receive zaps but don't want the world to know that they're receiving them. Thoughts?
 Already exists
Damus and a couple others do it.
To send if there is an option. But to receive there is no way that I know, it depends on the user who #zaps my note if he sends it anonymously, private or public.
Yah, and this is something that breaks a lot of the nostr analytics. There isn’t a way currently to “hide” zaps received.

There is a way to “hide” zaps sent, as other commenters noted, Damus allows “anonymous” zapping.

That means nostr analytics can account for zaps received from those users but not account for zaps sent.
Back in the day a few when a few of us degenerates had zap battles we would sometimes send anon zaps to each other to confuse one another - simply for laughs.
Personally I get the fact that someone may not want others to know who they zap and how much so they would anon, but as a receiver of these I preferred to know who zapped me.
They can definitely do this already.
To be able to anonymously send is cool, I wasn’t aware. The question that came up was the desire by people to receive anonymously.
Oh sorry I definitely misunderstood as well. Basically, you just don’t use zaps. Get an invoice from the lnurl and pay it. The goal of zaps, I believe, is public receipts.
I turned then on initially when I started using amethyst and then forgot about it until a few months ago. 🤷‍♂️
It's the responsibility of the zapper to publish the zap receipt, so it's ultimately up to the recipient if the zap is published publicly or not.

The main issue would be that senders have an expectation that zaps are public. Perhaps zapper endpoints could have a flag that specifies if they publish zaps publicly or not to align expectations.
