@fc501b69@4eebd810 I also think that even people who do understand both security and privacy have a defeatist attitude. People think, "Well, Google already knows all of my browsing habits, personal information, etc., so I'll keep using Chrome because it's convenient."
Rarely do people seem to want to actually give an indication to these companies that their behavior is unacceptable by not using their products.
@fc501b69@4eebd810 Whenever Google does the latest thing to make Chrome worse, I send an article about it to a couple of friends. Both are tech professionals. One has a huge list of professional security certifications to his name. Neither are bothered enough to actually swap to something different.
@fc501b69@4eebd810 I think it’s this. Back in the day I started using Chrome because it was lean and fast. When that stopped being the case and it became a slow, bloated vehicle for ad tech, I stopped. Most of my friends and coworkers still just stick with it due to inertia, though.
