Because for a long time, Chrome was objectively better. Faster, for certain.

Now that's no longer the same, but people loathe change, so they stick with the crappy, user-hostile solution. 

 @4eebd810 Neither  do I entirely. Been using it since Netscape. It's not perfect, but the best option to me. 

 @4eebd810 they’ve made some statements in opposition to freedom of speech that I found distasteful.
