We held a focus group with friends and family last night on some new marketing videos explaining the idea of @nextblock and the app’s features.
This group barely understood Bitcoin let alone Nostr.
Some of their initial questions:
“How could social media even work without algorithm?”
“Who decides what I see?”
“How can I find new accounts?”
“What if I decide I don’t want to see something and then “it” never shows me that again?”
“How it could be fun without an algorithm deciding what shows?”
Fortunately, the focus group session ended with someone asking…
“So WE are the algorithm?”
To which @Ian & I enthusiastically responded: YES!

It was 9 people and we showed materials that explain @nextblock so very high level. Because we’re building an Attention Marketplace and new discovery features we focus on explaining those. The onboarding pain points we avoid bringing up. But we explain that Nostr is a decentralized protocol where people own their own social identity.

More #bitcoiners need to speak on U.S. funding to #Isreal with at least the same energy as funding to #Ukraine. Especially because funding to Isreal is more egregious and persistent, dating back to the 40s and totaling over $300 billion.
The money printers you hate are funding a genocide for the last year. But somehow Americans growing this freedom tech seem to be quiet about it.
#Nostriches, you know the propaganda machine exists. Here on Nostr, no one should be afraid to question what they know and eventually speak the truth about the U.S. and Isreal. How come I only see the same Ukraine funding discussion from Americans on here?

I think we're seeing how well the propaganda machine works. Seeing the very obvious requires intellect, focus, & and patience. Lots of things at play to make it hard to be all three.

We think we solve this problem with the Attention Marketplace we are building at @nextblock.
Right now there is no money coming in, only out via zaps. So people are pulling from their own Bitcoin. If they have any.
Through an Attention Marketplace, people set the price of their Attention, the marketplace matches them with advertisers who will pay that price. They watch the ad, get paid, then keep scrolling. Overtime, they will have earn sats to give out, fully funding the value4value model.
