I've been debating with myself about going to the next unconf. I almost talked myself into Riga, but chickened out. Was way too out of place to even consider any previous.
I don't travel often, and I don't think of myself as providing value around here enough that my presence would be of any real benefit to anyone. It would be a lot of fun, though, to meet some people, experience a new place, maybe volunteer, if needed.
By the time another rolls around, it will have been well over 2 years that I've been participating in this grand restructuring. I'm not sure if that would make it more or less weird if I went. I don't actually know anybody who'd likely be there, but everyone I've interacted with has been amicable up to this point.
I'm just thinking aloud. There's a lot of unknowns yet that might make the decision for me. I just need to clear out my mind. This is the week to do it, for whatever reason. Seem to be at max capacity 🫠

You just need to show up and be open to saying good morning in person. I don't like getting out, but, going to Nostr Valley last weekend was honestly good for me. So stop worrying about "needing to bring something." You would be welcome at any gathering I'd want to go to, so, you should stop chickening out before you end up fried. (I know, I know, I'm terrible at times.)
Make plans to travel. Keep them. Enjoy it.
I appreciate the encouragement. I don't mind getting out, and I'm not even shy. Quiet maybe, but not shy.😅

Go for you! If you think it will be fun, and the people amicable, then do it.
Just be safe. As in all spheres of the world there are good and bad humans. From experience, bring your own water. Hugs 🫂

Also I think as nostr grows, there will hopefully be more opportunity to meetup in closer areas. The only meetup in the US here I've been close to was nostr valley and I couldn't make it happen. Not very many young nostr "enthusiasts" yet, but I'm hoping there will be. Flight's and hotels are also a bit spendy for me these days.
Myself and I think many others would be happy to just chat, few brews and have a good time.

Well I've never conferenced so I see!
I almost travelled to Riga this year. In the end I couldn't justify the expense & time away.
When it's the right time, everything will come together easily. It won't feel so much like you're forcing it & you'll see confirmations of it everywhere.
Maybe I'll see you in Riga next year. 🫂
