When I heard of the outcry over Katie Brittโs State of the Union speech I was initially alarmed, thinking she might have been accusing Biden of assaulting a 12 year old girl. Of course, that wasn't the case, but now people are equally alarmed at the lies she told.
She lied about a woman who as a young girl was trafficked and raped. But during Bush's presidency, not Biden's. And the incident occurred in Mexico, not in the US or on the border.

I have just been forced to create a gmail email, and use it to contact a lot of my contact list, because Google (hiss spit) are blocking many of my emails from my usual domains.

@bc56a3a3 I actually have a place in my imagination that I call the screaming forest. I run through that mentally screaming aloud (but not in reality so as not to scare anyone in the house). And that works almost as well as the real thing.
@678e31cf I am VERY tired after two bad nights, and feeling down. I just spilled my breakfast down my jumper. And the car is nowhere to be seen. Last we heard he was "waiting for a part". Oh, and my coffee is cold.

Have you noticed? This world (or at least the internet part of it) is full of people who have no idea what they are talking about, do no research (in fact despise it) and live happily in their small lives believing every bizarre theory that is presented to them.
Days like today I feel like screaming very loudly.

They are either very elderly and stuck in their ways (knowing nothing beyond Facebook) or I don't know them well enough to tell them what to do with their social media choices. Besides that, I have nothing else myself, except here (which would totally freak them out) or Twitter (YUK). And then there's a number of special interest groups I run on FB that are years old and have lots of members. So there's no way I can leave.

@3779d588 I used a program last year to do a complete backup and put it on an external drive. Then when I dropped and lost one of the other external drives I returned to the backup file - but it would not open or run!! I lost faith in the program and what it did and vowed never to do that again.
@94deec6d Okay I understand. I have a range of external drives, so I'd just have to plug one of them in permanently. What happens when the laptop is switched on and off - does that affect the drive at all? Could I just leave it plugged in?
@94deec6d I think if I was using a standard computer on a desk I'd work towards that but at present I have a laptop on a trolley over the bed, and nowhere to stand or plug in anything extra (just have a speaker, that's all.)
Left the laptop on overnight to finish the backup of Windows. Woke up 3am; it had finished so I turned it off, forgetting the drive was still attached.
Morning: panic - would the drive be recognised when I turned the laptop on? Yes, thank God it was still there.
Then I saw (in contents) I had ALREADY done a backup of Windows, couple of months previously!! Now I had 2 copies of it taking up GB of space.
Could have saved myself the time and effort by simply updating the previous backup!! DUH.
@ebb00298 I did stop backing up all of Windows a while ago, having realised just what you said about reinstalling... but then I start thinking about the other stuff on the Windows drive, that I wouldn't have in a reinstall, so I go back to doing the backup. Sigh.
I will have to leave the laptop running all night to finish this backup. I started this morning and it's 9.30pm now. The backup of Windows is about 80 percent done.
Just thinking about hard drive capacity and how storage gets larger all the time, I remember my first "proper" computer was standard 10MB drive but I opted for the larger 15MB drive and I thought it was amazing.
Today I could download one single file that large and not really notice it. How times change.
I'm a bit slow today because I am doing backups. What's that you say, I am slow every day? Hrmph.
What I would like is a gigantic backup drive large enough to combine all my drives from years of computing. The largest I can feasibly buy is 5TB and I've already used half of that.

I do think I'm autistic to some degree and (too late) I see it even more in my brother too - he's dead now as of three years ago. I really wish I had understood that earlier, for both of us.

@678e31cf I now have two identical current backups, on different drives. I learned the hard way to have two backups, having dropped an external hard drive and lost everything on it.

@Paul. I have a cupboard full of drives that I have bought over the years, because I seem to keep everything and fill up a drive, then move on to the next one. That is one reason I would like one huge drive to store it all.
