Our useless #Portland city council is so terrified at the prospect of having little more to do than actually talk to Portlanders and come up with winning policy, they’re begging the mayor to keep their dirty fingers in bureau business just a bit longer. Keep in mind, none of council are pros trained in the sophisticated core competencies of the bureaus they manage. They’re just cheerleaders who use the influence as a cudgel or as a way to appease their campaign donors.

@fcb53333 In a voting population like in the US where prolonged two-party dominance has shifted voters’ political identity from “party affiliation” to “party counter-affiliation,” how do you envision the adoption of party-centric systems, in terms of selling the shift in perspective? How do we change to “this party represents my values” from our current “I distrust the other party more”?
