@mostr is there a way to claim a fediverse account and just mirror what I post on Nostr to Mastodon or vice a versa? Or do I need to setup @Ditto and just move my nostr keys and mastodon account on there?
Gosh the more I use bitcoin, the more I learn that I most services I use, offer paying with Bitcoin... So I will probably be going that route first. I'm also think about hosting a Wallet for MyPaint Community as well. Open Collective used to offer Bitcoin donations, but sunset that a long time ago. My only issue is that I want the transactions to be just as transparent as it is on Open Collective. Just thinking....
Trying out @wavlake on android. Like the music experience. I just wish there was a way to share music/podcast information between them, @Podverse and @fountain_app to make it truely decentralize. Nostr seems like a good idea cause they could have their own relays and just exchange the info if needed. Idk.
At least I can bridge Nostr and Mastodon with @Ditto I'll have to set up my own server, but I think it might be doable.
No what I mean is the userdata for what songs/podcasts/playlists we add to our library along with our queue and played state. If that data is portable and could be stored on with Nostr, IPFS, or some decentralize database, that would be awesome. Though for that to happen, all the podcasting 2.0 app developers would have to agree on a storage standard to make it happen. We already have an identity base system with Nostr, so that can be taken advantage of as well. IPFS has been around forever so that can work too.
All-in-all I love what been happening already, it just seems that this is what needed to be address so all the user has to do is pick their favorite provider/podcast app and off they go.
I also ended up subscribing to Alby Cloud. I tired to load Alby hub on my Raspberry Pi but kept running into roadblocks. Probably once I get my nextcloud server going, I will take a look into it again.
Also tip for those who are getting started, you can use fountain or primal to get the necessary sats to get started but the with the first channel opening, it might not work. I ended up transferring the sats to the alby shared wallet first then pay it via the extension. I then connected it to my alby account to transfer the remaining sats over. I wish it was a bit more simpler but now I understand why it is a chore.
Also Chris what are your thoughts about using PayPal to buys sats and transfering it over to alby? After my fiasco with River, I forgotten PayPal offers buying Bitcoin as well. I'm a Washington resident too so would that affect me tax wise?

@ChrisLAS Fountain is erroring out the boost on my end, I tried todo a retry but it still fails. Might want to look on your end. Sat streaming is working though. If no joy, I can just reboost via alby/podverse instead.
Welcome to Nostr! If you want to add the ability to use Sats, Primal has a built-in wallet. If you are a podcast listener, @fountain_app is great start. Fountain also can be used to verify who you are. It is what I use. Long term, I would look into @Alby to self sovereign your own Bitcoin and sats.
Just keep in mind though, you are responsible for monitoring what you see on Nostr. There are no automatic moderation tools, but you can block or mute. Especially if you follow hashtags like I do.
Once again welcome to the future of decentralize social media!
Hay Noah, with regards to cockpit, I found out recently you don't even need it install just the client. Cockpit-client is available as a flatpak and as long as you have python install on the server and ssh, it will work. Great if you just have webhost VPS and just need to check in on it. Also works with Tailscales SSH as well. Webmin/Virtualmin is another good one but I like small installs.
Also I would love if you guys add chapters to your podcast and podping so I know when you go live. Love your show, and it has help me numerous times.

I have to say fountain is working quite nice. I have an audio bug, but they got back to me with having a fix for the 1.1.8 release. Here's hoping.
With that said, I would love an ability to add a song to my library from the player screen or a quick add of the tracklist of music podcasts to a playlist.
It would be nice if the posts would format better on the nostr overall. It looks nice on fountain with linking to clips, podcasts, and/or songs, but on primal for example, it just shows the boost bot which isn't helpful. Also cross posting to activitypub would be awesome too. Mostr.pub by soapbox could be a way todo it.
Eitherway, excited with what fountain is doing and what it has going down the road.

Welp EA decided to be hostile to the Linux Community with Blocking Apex Legends from being used on Linux cause we are the cause for Cheats. What they don't realize that it much harder to develop cheats due to the Wine Layer and it will always be a moving target.
Even then, they could just be an active developer and actually address any issues that Wine might pose an issue. However they decided to be lazy and just block an entire ecosystem instead of participating like Valve has been.
Also, I get it that the technical debt is too high, but using us as a scapegoat and blaming us for your problems is what pissing me off.
With that said, I'm personally no longer buying any more games published by EA.
Love your H8M3 song! So much emotion put in it. Can't wait to discover more of your music!

Update... Well that was a bust with River. I did the ID verification, KYC BS, and the next day, my account was closed before I even had a chance to buy any Bitcoin. I had issues before with my address but this is a first for a exchange... Oh well... at least there are other ways to buy Bitcoin.

Finally got my account made with River and likely the kyc process wasn't painful. Had issues in the past due to my address. I still have some banking things I need to complete before I can start buying Bitcoin, but thank you for the recommendation and the affiliate link. I might do the saving account that River have going but I have my reservations.
Also had a bad week with my fountain wallet locking up due to a transaction. I'm realizing that I need to self sovereign my lightening wallets with something like alby. Eitherway still Loving the show and look forward to learning from ya.

Finally got my fountain wallet name fixed and removed the "-nostr " add-on. I guess I had an account back in 2022 and had no email attached to it so I couldn't log in to it. So hopefully it won't be as much of a tounge twister now. Had a good laugh last time and it made my night.
Either way keep on rocking Sir Libre! Still waiting on that homestead podcast you have brewing. I'll catch ya live when I can!

I had to switch to @primal built-in lightning wallet since my @fountain_app wallet locked up because of pending transactions plus another issue. I'm still waiting on them to resolve it.
Long term wise I should get @Alby hub set up on my Raspberry Pi.
Good practical idea for dealing with scaling issues. In addition, I would look into the RetroTink too cause its built specifically for coverting anologue into a digital HDMI signal too.
Seems like the it's going up in price in USD right now so people are selling and buying like crazy. @ChrisLAS do fees go down when there are more than average transactions on the BTC network?
Day 6 of #inktober2024 is here. I decided to draw a #Stargate from #SG-1 cause that was the series that was a #trek to me. Loved some of the adventures and antics they got into and the overall universe created. I didn't realize how much detail though was in the gate itself plus had a snafu drawing the grated ramp. I will probably fix it digitally later cause I smudge the #ink too. 😵💫
I think for the future, I really need to keep these simple.

Would it be possible to look into Soapbox.pub and their server Ditto? Apparently it is a Nostr relay that also acts a fediserver with its bridge called Mostr. So basically giving you the best of both worlds.
If it a good choice, it would be nice If JB hosted it's own server so it would make onboarding on Nostr easier and still be able to communicate. Plus we can support eachother with our lightening wallets.

Okay here is my Day 5 submission for #inktober2024. To be honest, I wasn't really feeling this prompt so I basically drew what I normally see through my #binoculars which are towers. I work for a small local ISP and we use dishes for "line of sight Wireless". So I use my binoculars for aiming the dishes in. Though being lazy this time, I just showed one eye. 😅
Though to challenge myself, this one was all pen and no pencil. So many mistakes were made.

Okay I'm a day late, but here is my Day 4 submission for #Inktober2024. The theme is #Exotic and I decided to draw #Teto from "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind".
I took what I learned so far and applied to this one. I did my normal #sketch and then used my smallest pen to #ink the first layer. Then after erasing the sketch, use the other sizes to add texture. So key take away from inking is don't be afraid to layer it up.
On to catch up with Day 5!

Day 3 submission of 2024 Inktober. I forgot this little character of mine had black hair so I had to use the brush marker a lot to fill in. I'm impressed of my micron pens cause they were in storage for a couple of years and they still flow. Good pens.
I'll have to fix a few thing digitally later, but I'm proud that I'm sticking to it this long. Usually give up after a couple of days.
Anyways onwards to day 4!

I get things are hard atm, but I wouldn't give up on the Bitcoin side. Keep it there, but also promote more of your paypal donations and amazon wishlist. Your music podcast really introduces me to all sorts of rock music and it is awesome.
Even with your upcoming homestead podcast, you should enable it cause for me I mainly sat stream and it would suck to lose the ability to do that on your podcasts.
Either way, I hope to hear more from ya and also the music you promote.
Double-shot!

Here is my day two Submission for Inktober. At one of conventions my friends and I attended we came across these worlds in a glass bottle stickers. So I thought this would be a great drawing for "Discover".
Took me a bit cause I was being a perfectionist and that probably why I'm struggling. I have this idea in my head, but it's hard to render out and I just give up cause it's not what I was looking for... Need to just let the pen do the work.

In response to last week's baller boost with Hank, there's also a another Linux conference coming up for Seattle called SeaGL, happening next month on November 8th and 9th over at the Washington State University. I would love to hear you guys cover it as well. https://seagl.org/
Also, this is another boost to get Producer Jeff up there. I really want to drive over there as well, but would need a couch to crash on since it would be a tight budget. Or we could just camp in that "backyard" the studio has. 😝
Like always love listening to you guys and as the Podfather says. Go Podcasting!

Welp... Here I go... I've been wanting to get back to drawing and with Inktober happening, I guess it was a perfect time to give it a shot again. I want to conquer my years long art block so... Yay....
My submissions are going to be late since, I have a day job but I will do my best! I'll scan everything when the month is over.
I'm open to hearing ways I can improve and any books and media suggestions will be appreciated.
Its once again almost 2am for me... Sleep...

Great show you guys have. I love to hear about the behind the scenes work when it comes to podcasting 2.0. With regards to with auto generating voice for podcasting. This is happening with YouTube shorts and a lot of summary type videos for movies and shows so I wouldn't be surprised the same thing happens with podcasting. You're alright though, for me I do prefer the personal touch with podcasts so hopefully it won't be as big an issue as it is on video sharing sites.

You never appreciate power until you lose it, and you have to drive 20 miles to get 15 gallons of water For the freaking toilet, and washing dishes. We luckily have a generator to keep the fridge on. Propane for the stove, but no power for the well pump. Yay!
It posts on your public profile on the Nostr protocol that Fountain is utilizing. If you're familiar with Mastodon and activitypub, it's basically the same thing except much more decentralized.

Here's a clip from Self-Hosted giving you a quick primer of how the Lightning Network works in junction with Bitcoin.
They go into much more depth if you want to listen to the full episode, but this will get you a rough idea of how it works.
But overall, this is a very good way to not only pay for podcasts in the podcasting 2.0 network in the form of boosts and zaps, but this should also be a way to start also funding developers and the open source ecosystem as well.

Long time listener, and first time booster! Fountain.fm has made this so much easier to give nostr a go, and moonpay also makes it easier to add SATs.
Also yeah, with rust development on Linux kernel, the maintainers do need to embrace change. Even if they don't want to develop on rust themselves, they need to inform rust developers of breaking changes, and also document it too.
We are all in this together, let's play nice.

@ChrisLAS Looks like I can follow ya now. I guess when #fountain.fm basically became a Nostr Client, they also became a verification site too? I'll try boosts when I'm able to purchase sats. Nostr is pretty cool concept wise, just weird and very linuxy difficult wise to setup.
Okay so I'm trying @openvibe@mastodon.social as my primary client on my Android that way I can post to both my Mastodon and my Nostr accounts.
I would like to find a similar app for Linux as well so if any of ya have suggestions, I'm all ears.
I think I got things setup, but I'm having trouble following anyone including you @ChrisLAS. I'm using Alby to login to primal, but I don't know what else to do at this point.
