Oh boy, Nostr is a haven for spam! Nostr is designed to allow spammers to constantly attack the network will nonsense. They can make new accounts in seconds.
It is up to the relay operator to fight spam for the user. My relay, wss://relay.poster.place removes most of the spam from nostr

Can you run your own server and control your own data? Do not rely on other companies to have everything.
Install on a spare computer or buy cheap refurbished desktop, run linux and install Syncthing or Nextcloud for file sync, Keepass for password manager, Tor for VPN. Mail from Proton is probably ok, just never put all your eggs in one basket
