Guy behind me has brought his persistent dry cough to the restaurant to share, and is complaining loudly about feeling run down, brain fog, and running a bit of a temperature 🤦♂️
Anyone else concerned about how, in the UK, we've got used to food shortages?
No tomatoes in my local ASDA* today, but plenty of cucumbers, which makes a change.
I managed to get the last two cabbages. It's autumn. We should be up to our knees in cabbages and root vegetables, but it was a pretty sorry display.
*ASDA is the UK equivalent to Walmart, and was in fact owned by Walmart for a while.
Been signed up as a speaker for a cyber security conference in a couple of months (I guess I didn't completely stuff my IET appearance) and I've just seen the ticket price o.o;
I'm guessing it's C-suite people who go to this conference. I should probably wear a shirt. Maybe even a tie.
@d4b81373 5G, 4G, smart meters, Wi-Fi...
Tests done exposing "sensitive" people to EMF from a mobile base station indicated no correlation between exposure and symptoms. They did the test four times:
BTS off, told it was off
BTS on, told it was off
BTS off, told it was on
BTS on, told it was on
I'll give no prizes for guessing which factor had the highest correlation with symptoms.
One of the greatest sources of frustration to me is software development's propensity for deadline driven development
Stuff gets shipped with a whole overdraft of technical debt, then finds its way into all kinds of applications, some of which are safety related or critical infrastructure
We need to have an honest conversation about software quality and how it affects our safety, security and prosperity, because right now so much harm can be traced directly to a software project manager with a Ghantt chart and a pen
@d4b81373 Some of the engineers I used to work with were very proud of their U238. They had lumps of the stuff left over from the British atomic bomb project that they were using as doorstops. A favoured prank was to toss one to an apprentice or graduate.
