I Have BITCOIN But My Wife left me
I love the passion of fellow Bitcoiners
But recently I asked some people on the Bitcoin Walk
“How does your significant other feel about your Bitcoin passion?”
I was surprised by their answers:
“Oh they just do not get it”
“I tried to set them a wallet to put money into but they never did”
“They think I am crazy, but at least it better than my laser quest hobby”
I think I speak for most people here in that we have each at some point had conversations with friends, partners, or colleagues about our interest in Bitcoin.
My success rate of converting someone to Bitcoin is…
0%
I know this is because people will see the light in their own time
But I have to ask myself
“Why do I buy Bitcoin?”
To be honest part of it is to create a future for me, my family, and my friends.
Should we just go out and make new friends?
Get a new partner?
How can we build trust with others that we know what we are doing?
If they do not understand it?
Or is it just a case of happy wife, happy life?

BAIL OUT VS BAIL-IN
So I was familiar with the term ‘Bail-Out’
My dad said it to me every time I left the lights on in my room. 💡
I also heard it ALOT around 2008 with headlines such as:
🤑"Bailout Package: Now With Free Executive Bonuses!”
💸"Wall Street on Welfare”
🏧"Buy One Bank, Get Two Free!”
What I have NEVER heard before is the term ‘Bail-In’??
What is it?
It sounds fun!
It sounds like the latest amusement at Thorpe Park
“SCREAM as you ride the BAIL-IN this summer!” 🎢
A bail-in is when the failing bank can use the money of depositors, shareholders, and bondholders to ‘stabilize’ themselves rather than relying on government money.
Basically…
Your money.
The Bank of England has kindly outlined this process for you and called it a stabilization tool
https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/paper/2021/executing-bail-in-an-operational-guide-from-the-boe
phew! I was worried there for a second!
Another reason to put your focus on Bitcoin and out of the financial system
So 'bail-in' is where the bank pulls a sneaky and uses *your* money to save itself
Think of it as the ultimate thrill ride where you didn’t even know you were tall enough to hop on!
But hey, as long as it’s all part of the plan, right? 😅

DO YOU REMEMBER YOUR FIRST COCA-COLA?
This was something that was brought up on the last Bitcoin walk I was on.
A question I asked was:
“Do you remember the first time you drank Coca-Cola?”
The hardest thing I have struggled with BTC is ‘unlearning’ what I have believed for all my life.
I cannot remember the first time I drank Coca-Cola, because it’s always been there.
I have always known what it tastes like
I have always known it was red
I know that I can go anywhere in the world and feel comforted by drinking Coca-Cola
I do not remember the first time I was offered it, but I always remember asking for it.
This is what made challenging fiat currency so difficult
You get comfort in the system
You ASSUME everything works as it’s supposed to.
You believe in it because it’s all you have ever known
But does that make it right?
Or will all my teeth fall out before it is too late
But what if that comfort is just a clever illusion?
Coca-Cola was sweet, familiar, and easy to trust—but we all know what happens if you drink it every day.
Much like the fiat system, it keeps us hooked on what's always been there, even if it's not what’s best for us in the long run.
Bitcoin isn’t comfortable or familiar.
It doesn’t have the taste we’re used to, but that’s precisely what makes it powerful.
Sometimes, we need to unlearn what we know to make room for something better
Even if it doesn’t come in a familiar red can.

📚 The Bitcoin Standard - Review 📙
So as I started my Bitcoin journey, one book EVERYONE recommended to me was
‘The Bitcoin Standard by Saifedean Ammous’
I was originally quite surprised when I first started reading it, it’s not ‘really’ a book about Bitcoin
It’s more of a breakdown of the money system and a very small nod to Bitcoin at the end
I understand why this was recommended to me
Because you do not need any technical knowledge of BTC or Blockchain to understand the book.
It is straightforward, pick up and go
With lots of anecdotes, stories from history, and examples to help you understand complicated concepts
My biggest takeaway is this…
Just because I have not experienced a civilization collapse, money to become worthless or nuclear war, doesn’t mean it cannot happen.
History has a habit of repeating itself
The government or banks are not looking to help you, so its down to you to protect yourself.
Be prepared to have your mind bet in a few different directions (Just a warning)
The chapters I enjoyed the most were:
- Chapter 3: "The Monetary Media of Exchange" – This one digs deep into how commodities like gold, silver, and even salt became monetary standards in the past. It’s fascinating to see how societies historically agreed on certain "store of value" assets.
- Chapter 6: "Sound Money and Individual Freedom" – This section really resonated because it’s not just about finance; it's about freedom and autonomy. The idea that money which can’t be debased grants you more control over your life is a compelling argument for a Bitcoin-based future.
- Chapter 9: "Bitcoin’s Role" – Though it’s at the end, it ties everything together, explaining why Bitcoin could be the modern answer to sound money. It’s like a reward after understanding the history and theory that built up to this moment.
Overall, I’d say The Bitcoin Standard isn’t just a book about Bitcoin—it’s a journey through money, freedom, and resilience. It’s left me with a sharper perspective on the financial systems around us and how Bitcoin could play a part in reclaiming control over our wealth.
If you’re new to Bitcoin, or even just curious about economic history, this is a solid starting point!

WHY DO PEOPLE BUY ART?
1. To have something pretty to look at
2. Something for rich people to buy in the hope that it increases in value
Why is Art a bad investment, and should Bitcoin be a viable alternative
- Art has a subjective value
- Understanding art is difficult, and lots of research is required
- The Art industry is very opaque
- Artwork doesn’t offer quick liquidity
This should be an open GOAL ⚽
Nothing has beaten BTC over the last 14 years
- It is a store of value
- Decentralised
- Accessibility
- Transparent
- Inflation protection

THE 7 STAGES OF BEING A BITCOINER
1. Shock and Denial
Bitcoin: "Wait, how can a digital currency actually be real money? This must be a fad."
2. Pain and Guilt
Bitcoin: "Why didn’t I buy it earlier? How could I have ignored it when it was under £1,000? Now it's too late…"
3. Anger and Bargaining
Bitcoin: "The government! The banks! Why don't they just adopt Bitcoin already?! Maybe if I sell a bit now, I'll feel better."
4. Depression
Bitcoin: "The price crashed again… Why do I even bother checking my portfolio?"
5. The Upward Turn
Bitcoin: "Hey, the price is stabilizing. HODL was a good move after all!"
6. Reconstruction and Working Through
Bitcoin: "Okay, I’m going to learn more about blockchain tech, maybe even start using Lightning Network for transactions. I get it now."
7. Acceptance and Hope
Bitcoin: "Bitcoin is inevitable. I’ll ride out the waves. In the long run, it’s the future of money."

BOOMERS ARE WEALTHY
It’s Official…
Baby Boomers are the wealthiest generation 🤑
Sorry millennials 😭😭
Looks like we will have to wipe away our tears at Costa coffee ☕
For years I blamed previous generations for MY lack of wealth
I kept kicking myself 🦵
“Why didn’t I buy property in 1994, instead of playing Nintendo!”
But I do not think I can blame my parents for this.
They were just fortunate to be born into this system 🧬
The fact is since the UK came off the gold standard
Our parent’s assets have increased due to inflation.
Millennials you may not be able to buy property
Gold may be a bit pricy as well…
But the scarcity of bitcoin makes it an interesting alternative
Since dipping my toe into the BTC world 🌍
I have had my mind bent several times 😵
Bitcoin can be the answer to you no longer surviving
But thriving!💹

There is a huge wealth inequality. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. The thing is every generation has their "Thing". Wither it's property, stocks, bonds, Bitcoin its important for people to look at the landscape, educate themselves and try to hold on to what they have worked for.
