@c3f6e3f1 I loved the commenter who said it wasn't a real problem because there are lots more people called Alexa. Of course we all take our Amazon devices to the gym, don't we?
Looking to move to the US in Feb, East Coast.
That means for me looking for an agent in music / ...
@91f7a9d2 I'm in southern New Hampshire, in the NE. I've known a couple of people in the video field, although I haven't been in touch with them in years and I don't know if they would have any job leads.

Do hit me up if you need any general pointers about southern NH. It's just over an hour from Boston and there are a lot of creative folks here.
Anyone able to provide a guest link to this article? I can read the text with a little tweaking in Firefox, but I'd like to see the images as well.

Did you watch this video from the article, @0c1a9324

It starts off slow but interesting, in an understated Open University kind of way, as you learn about the physical changes that take place in clays when they're compressed. Then you see how a farmer digging a new foundation triggers a landslide, and for the next ten minutes you're going Holy crap! HOLY crap! HOLY F-ING CRAP!!!!

Nice! Who wrote it?
@59034767 I don’t think the authors of any of these Old English poems are known.
@59034767 Sorry to remind you about ancient Rome, but Smith's poem recalls the Old English poem about Roman ruins:

Wondrous is this foundation – the fates have broken and shattered this city; the work of giants crumbles.
The roofs are ruined, the towers toppled,
frost in the mortar has broken the gate,
torn and worn and shorn by the storm,
eaten through with age. The earth’s grasp
holds the builders, rotten, forgotten,
the hard grip of the ground, until a hundred
generations of men are gone.
 From my inbox.

I suspect that @bb052609 will be interested to know that according to the New York Times, Dumbledore and Jesmyn Ward have written a novel.

To be more clear, this is ...
@3967703f @28412555 Yes, it must be exhausting and isolating.

I've heard people say that sometimes these comments aren't visible to everyone. Something to do with different instances? So some of us are just unaware of them and we can't lend support. It seems like a design flaw with Mastodon.
 nostr:npub1h55q4u52v7ysfvxdtxngya9chpgtx0ru3hxq0w7hwnknxqqtkhzqz9jfjp It's work, that's the issue...
@3967703f @28412555 Sure. It's entirely up to you.
 nostr:npub19pqj24dndc9qn0unr5k5cgs2kdr7asxx0cr5ra88rk58n4rdyzqsegzq3z Not a bad idea. When I can ...
@3967703f @28412555 Yes, we should all know who these people are, and those of us who are sheltered from these comments need to know what black folks are having to deal with.

@27823c36 @d6e4c7e0 Well, the things that work work. But the things that are missing are missing. Such as the ability to see alt text, which is necessary if you don't want to boost images lacking alt text into the feed of people with visual impairments — which is the Mastodon equivalent of tripping up a blind person you see walking down the street.

@27823c36 @d6e4c7e0 There are better apps than the official Mastodon one, which lacks functionality. I recommend Ice Cubes if you're on iPhone. I hear Tusky is good.
I've just discovered that Meta illegally used one of my books ("I Can't Believe It's Not Buddha") to train its AI.

They are paraphrasing (uncredited) the contents of my book to make money.

I am not okay with this.

Sarah Silverman and others have started lawsuits. I hope some of the less rich among us can team up and do likewise.

Due to global warming, Vivaldi's Four Seasons have been reworked so that the Summer movement is 30% longer and played fortissimo, Winter is 10% shorter and played pianissimo, with some random bars played sforzando to account for the slowing of the North Atlantic Current, and both Spring and Autumn are now played very quickly and with abrupt changes in key, indicating their chaotic nature.
@e20e4053 It’s breaks the otherwise perfect symmetry of the building. Also it’s interesting that he went with a square dome rather than a more usual round one.

@0c1a9324 @b384c648 It's also $2.99 in Apple Books. I don't know how this coordination works, but often when someone's announced that their book is on sale on Amazon it appears on Apple for the same price.
