Key quote from the article: "The entire glacial area Kris refers to is the Amundsen Sea Embayment in the western Antarctic, which would raise sea levels by 10 feet if the Thwaites ice platform and plug were to collapse. It would take the rest of West Antarctica (Thwaites alone holds two feet of SLR) with it)."

That's an imminent 3 metre sea level rise, within single-digit years.

80% of Bangladesh (pop. 200M) live less than 2M above sea level.

I am not clear about the timescale. Rebound of the glacier bed doesn't seem likely to occur on a ten-year timescale, does it? Puzzled.
Did you watch this video from the article, @0c1a9324

It starts off slow but interesting, in an understated Open University kind of way, as you learn about the physical changes that take place in clays when they're compressed. Then you see how a farmer digging a new foundation triggers a landslide, and for the next ten minutes you're going Holy crap! HOLY crap! HOLY F-ING CRAP!!!!

A lot of the southeast coast of the US is at that level.
@0c1a9324 I wonder where the 1% will relocate to, if the Water levels rise... I mean with their money they can go anywhere... bet you they have already contemplated some short term scenarios... the Answer is nowhere is safe and unaffected... nowhere is unaffected, where services, food availability and life can continue as before... nowhere... you think they would realize and actively strive to mitigate the worse cases now.. but i guess they are as stupid most
